The Life of Devotees and Saints is a Guiding Light for Society: Sri H.B. Devanna

Suttur, July 30, 2025: On the seventh day of the holy Shravan month at Suttur Srikshetra, Sri H.B. Devanna delivered a deeply inspiring discourse, emphasizing that the lives of devotees and saints serve as a guiding light for society.

“Life must be lived with a sense of responsibility — both towards this world and the next,” he said, adding that saints and devotees have always led purposeful lives rooted in devotion, discipline, and truth. “Their words align with their actions. Their lives are a message in themselves.”

He stressed that purity of mind and meaningful companionship — especially with saints and spiritual guides — makes human life truly worthwhile. “Whatever physical work one does, it should be done with love and devotion. That alone brings happiness — both to the one doing it and to the one receiving the benefit,” he noted. Power, wealth, and intelligence, he said, should be used for the welfare of society and not for selfish ends.

Quoting Channabasavanna, Sri Devanna remarked, “One moment spent in sincere devotion or in listening to the words of the wise is worth more than a lifetime of penance.” He highlighted the timeless wisdom of saints, singers, and philosophers, whose experiences continue to offer guidance in building a peaceful and harmonious society.

The program, which began with a soulful group prayer, witnessed participation from devotees and spiritual seekers. Offerings were made by Sri B.M. Siddappa, Sri Mahadevamma and family, Sri Neelamani and Sri H.N. Basavanna, and Sri Mahadevamma and Sri H.J. Shivanna.
