23 twin students at JSS Residential School, Suttur

Twins All!: Twenty-three pairs of twins are among the total children admitted to the JSS Residential School in Suttur this academic year, which is a specialty.

Suttur, August 8, 2024: The majestic JSS Residential School building in Suttur was inaugurated by the former President of India, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, and former President of India, Smt. Prathiba Devi Singh Patil inaugurated the girls’ hostel. More than four thousand children from Karnataka and other states like Meghalaya, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Orissa, Jharkhand, Bihar, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, etc., are studying here from 1st to 10th standards. The JSS Mahavidyapeetha, under the gracious leadership of His Holiness Jagadguru Shri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji, is providing free education to all the students here, irrespective of caste, creed and religion in the serene environment of Suttur.

Many students who have studied at the JSS Residential School have gone on to join the armed forces of our country and are serving with distinction. Others have secured coveted posts and achieved success in various fields. These former students often visit the school, seeking the blessings of their teachers and expressing their gratitude for the role the school played in shaping them into who they are today.

Every year, the JSS Residential School, Suttur, admits students based on interviews with both the students and their parents. This year, out of the total admissions, we have a unique situation-23 pairs of twins! For instance, Pankaj and Pavan, twins from Belagavi, are studying in the 1st standard. Similarly, twins Prateek and Prakul are in the 2nd standard, and Dhyan and Dhruva from Dharwad are in the 3rd standard.

While Poorvika and Sanvika are in 5th standard, Sai Darshan and Preetam, studying in 7th standard, are from Kolar District. Prateek and R. Prajith from Chamarajanagara, Yoga Prabha and Yoga Priya from Mandya, Sanika and Bhoomika of Mysuru, Srushti and Sneha from Bagalkote, Parvati and Prakruti from Chitradurga, Gangadhara and Giridhar from Davanagere, Inchara and Yuvraj from Bengaluru, Sheela and Shilpa from Mysuru studying in 8th standard, Wanki Sullet and Shilong Sullet from Meghalaya studying in 7th standard are also among the 23 pairs of twins. Out of them, the majority of girls are twins, and two pairs are boys.

The teachers of these students are closely observing the learning capabilities, interests, and activities of these twins and providing them with the required guidance and training, thereby fulfilling the noble cause and objectives of the Institution.

Supreme Court Justice Visits Suttur Srikshetra

Shri Sarasa Venkatanarayana Bhatti, Hon’ble Justice, Supreme Court of India interacting with the students from the North Eastern States learning at the JSS School, Suttur, during his visit to the Sri Suttur Math. His Holiness Jagadguru Shri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji was present.

Suttur, August 6, 2024: Shri Sarasa Venkatanarayana Bhatti, Hon’ble Justice of the Supreme Court of India, was received with a rousing welcome at Suttur Srikshetra on Saturday, August 3, 2024. The Hon’ble Justice visited the shrine of Adijagadguru Shri Shivarathreeshwara Swamiji and the temples within the Srimath premises, receiving blessings from His Holiness Jagadguru Shri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji.

In his address to the students, Justice Bhatti praised their enthusiasm for both curricular and extracurricular activities. He remarked, “I can see contentment in your faces. The environment here has become very helpful for all of you in building your lives. I am feeling very happy after coming here. It is a very memorable day for me. As students, if you are determined in achieving your tasks, there is no doubt all of you will definitely achieve success.”

Smt. M.G. Uma, Hon’ble Judge of the High Court of Karnataka, Smt. Shylaja, and Shri S.P. Manjunath, Secretary of JSS Mahavidyapeetha, shared the dais during the event.

The program saw the presence of official staff, administrative officers, and heads of various departments of the JSS Institution, Suttur. It began with an invocation by the students, followed by a welcome speech and vote of thanks by Shri G.L. Tripurantaka.

Dr. Rajendra Mahaswamiji: A Visionary Leader with Compassionate Service

Suttur, August 29, 2024: During the 26th day of the Shravana Masa discourse at Sri Sutturkshetra, Sri H.B. Devanna emphasized the remarkable contributions of His Holiness Dr. Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamiji. Described as a “Trivida Dasohi” who dedicated his life to education, health, and food, Mahaswamiji is remembered for his mother-like compassion. His visionary leadership led to the founding of JSS Mahavidyapeetha in 1954, which has since grown into a major educational and cultural institution. His legacy includes global missionary efforts to promote Indian culture and spirituality.

The discourse highlighted several inspiring incidents from Mahaswamiji’s life, illustrating his deep concern for students and his dedication to providing education and nourishment to the underprivileged. His initiatives have flourished, with the JSS Mahavidyapeetha now managing various educational institutions, from medical and engineering colleges to schools of law, pharmacy, and the arts.

His influence also extended to the spiritual and cultural domains, with the Math playing a significant role in promoting Indian music and spiritual growth through various programs. Mahaswamiji’s missionary tours, including one to England and America in 1986, were particularly noted for their success in bringing Indian spirituality and culture to a global audience.

Sri D.M. Siddalingaiah recited poetry during the event, while members of the Suttur Madivala Samaja Bhakta Mandali and numerous devotees participated in the sevartha. The program commenced with prayers and drew a large number of spiritual aspirants and devotees.

Shravana Maasa Poojanusthana at Sri Suttur Kshetra

Suttur, August 2, 2024: The Shravana Maasa Poojanusthana and discourse program at Sri Suttur Kshetra will be held from August 4 to September 1, 2024. Special poojas will be conducted at the shrine of Adi Jagadguru Shri Shivarathreeshwara Shivayogi Mahaswamiji, and the temples of Shri Mahadeshwara, Shri Nanjundeshwara, Shri Someshwara, Shri Veerbhadreshwara, and Shri Narayanaswami. The rituals will include Rudrabhisheka, Shivasahasranamavali, Shivashtottara Mahamangalarthi, and more.

Mass prayers will take place daily from 6:30 PM to 7:00 PM, followed by a discourse on the book ‘Shivatatwa Chintamani’ by Lakkanna Dandesha from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The discourse will be interpreted by Prof. H.B. Devanna and delivered by Shri D.M. Siddalingaswamy.

The inaugural function of the discourse program will be conducted on Sunday, August 4, at 6:00 PM in the divine presence of His Holiness Jagadguru Shri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji. Shri N. Vishnuvardhana, Superintendent of Police, Mysuru, will inaugurate the function. Shri Gowrishankara Swamiji of Shri Bettada Muth, M.L. Hundi, T. Narasipura Taluk, will also be present. The program will be presided over by Shri S.L. Channabasanna, Deputy Director of the Mysuru Police Academy, and Dr. P. Shivaraju, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Mysuru District, will be the chief guest.

Devotees and the public are encouraged to participate in large numbers to receive the blessings of the deities.

JSS Residential School Students Shine in National General Knowledge Examination

Suttur, August 1, 2024: Students of JSS Residential School, Suttur, have brought pride and recognition to their institution by excelling in the All India General Knowledge Examination (AIGKE), conducted by the Human Resources Department, Government of India.

Darshan M. Gowda, a 9th Standard student, secured the 19th rank, while Advaith, a 10th Standard student, received the ‘Proficiency Merit’ award. These outstanding achievements highlight the students’ dedication and the quality of education provided at JSS Residential School.

The Administrative Officer, Heads of various departments, and staff have extended their heartfelt congratulations to both Darshan and Advaith for their remarkable accomplishments.

Glimpses from Drs Vasant and Mangala Betkerur Scholarship Distribution program which was held on 27th July 2024. Around 20 students from JSS Polytechnic Colleges and JSS Nursing Schools received scholarships. Drs. Vasant and Mangala Betkerur were the chief guests and joined the programme virtually from Ohio, USA.
