ICAR JSS KVK Suttur Commemorates International Women’s Day with Empowering Event

Suttur, March 13, 2024: ICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) in Suttur, in conjunction with esteemed partners including the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Govt. of India, and the JSS Janashikshan Institute, hosted a program on March 13, 2024, in honor of International Women’s Day.

The program featured enlightening discussions and addresses shedding light on the significance of International Women’s Day and the array of legal frameworks in place for the safeguarding of women’s rights. Notable among the speakers was Smt. Manjula B., Child Development Program Officer from the Women and Child Development Department in Nanjangud, whose insightful speech resonated with attendees.

Highlighting the entrepreneurial spirit and achievements of women, the event included a felicitation ceremony honoring Smt. Lakshmi Venkatesh, a distinguished woman entrepreneur. Furthermore, certificates were presented to participants who successfully completed the Jute Products making training program.

Distinguished guests in attendance included Shri N.M. Shankarappa, Director of the Horticulture Division at JSS Mahavidyapeetha, along with members of the JSS Janashikshana Samsthan, women entrepreneurs, representatives from ICAR, and various stakeholders. Two-Day Training Program Empowers CADA Farmers in Mysuru

Mysuru, February 28, 2024: The ICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra, in collaboration with the Command Area Development Authority (CADA), successfully organized a comprehensive two-day training program aimed at enhancing the skills and knowledge of farmers within the CADA limits. The event took place at Suttur on February 27 and 28, drawing participation from approximately 35 enthusiastic farmers representing Nanjangud,
T. Narasipura, and H.D. Kote taluk areas, particularly those under the Kabini reservoir region.

The training program, meticulously curated by the experts at ICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra, focused on pivotal aspects of agricultural practices, including soil and water management techniques, handling alkaline and silty soil conditions, advanced crop methods suitable for catchment areas, exploration of alternative crops, seed treatment methods, and essential aspects of kitchen gardening and animal husbandry.

Shri Shamraj, a distinguished Cultivation Scientist from JSS KVK, captivated the audience with insightful sessions on catchment area agricultural crop management, offering practical strategies for optimizing yields in challenging terrains.

Adding to the enriching experience, Shri Pradeep, Assistant Agriculture Director at CADA, shared invaluable insights into the operational dynamics of Water Users’ Cooperative Society, shedding light on its pivotal role in facilitating sustainable agricultural practices and water resource management.

The event served as a significant platform for knowledge exchange and capacity building, empowering the participating farmers with the latest techniques and best practices in agriculture. Renowned Speaker Dr. H.N. Lakshminarasimhamurthy Advocates Worship of Mother Earth at JSS Residential School Event

Lakshminarasimhamurthy, a distinguished resident of Mandya now residing in the USA, delivered a compelling address at the JSS Residential School in Suttur on January 17, 2024. The esteemed speaker underscored the significance of worshiping Mother Earth and emphasized her role as a benevolent provider of resources and life.

In his address to the students, Dr. Lakshminarasimhamurthy likened Mother Earth to a goddess, urging everyone to recognize and appreciate the manifold gifts she bestows upon humanity. The speaker encouraged students to cultivate essential virtues such as discipline, self-control, human values, and a deep connection with Indian culture.

Highlighting the transformative power of spiritual practices, Dr. Lakshminarasimhamurthy suggested that students could enhance their academic performance and personal growth by incorporating regular prayers, yoga, and meditation into their daily routines. By fostering a stronger bond with Mother Earth, he believed that students could develop a holistic approach to their studies and lives.
