JSS High School wins overall sports prize

JSS Residential School, Suttur, Administrative Officer Sri S.P. Udayashankar, Heads of various departments of the school and Physical Education Instructors are seen with the winners of the Divisional-level sports tournament.

Suttur, August 3, 2022: The School Education and Literacy Department had organized a Division-level Sports meet, at the Hedatale Village in Nanjangud Taluk. The students of JSS High School, Suttur, took part in various events and won overall prize.

Boys category: Kho-Kho, Kabaddi, Throwball (1st prize)
Girls category: Kho-Kho, Kabaddi (1st prize), and Ball Badminton (2nd Prize)

Athletics: Rohith Trividha – Long jump, Discuss Throw and Shot Put (1st Prize) – emerged as Individual Champion

Boys category: Yuvraj – 100 m. running (1st prize); High Jump (2nd prize); Manu – 800 m. running (1st); Basavaraj M.C. – 3000 m running (1st); Rajesh B.P. – 1500 m. (2nd); Vinay T.S. – 200 m (2nd); Ramesh – 400 m. (3rd), 4×100 m. Relay (1st)

Free Mass Marriage program at Suttur on August 21, 2022

Suttur, July 10, 2021: The Suttur Sri Veerasimhasana Samsthana Math has been conducting monthly free mass marriage programs since February 2009, apart from the mass marriage program conducted during the Adijagadguru’s Jatra Mahotsav held at Suttur Srikshetra, with the divine blessings of Paramapujya Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji.

Sri Haraguru Charamurthy will participate in the mass marriages held at Suttur Srikshetra along with the relatives and friends of the couples and bless them.

The groom should be above 21 years of age and the groom should be above 18 years of age to participate in the mass marriage program. Interested people can send applications along with the photograph of the bride and groom, along with caste certificates and certificate or school marks card copy as proof of age. Child marriages are strictly prohibited.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic and government guidelines, all those who participate should compulsorily wear a mask, maintain social distancing and also undergo all other guidelines like thermal scanning, washing hands, and sanitizing.

This month’s mass marriage program is scheduled for August 21, 2022, Sunday. Those interested are requested to contact the Administrative Officer, JSS Educational Institution, Suttur, eight days before either directly by visiting the office in Suttur or call on phone number: 0821-232217, 232033, 9741342222, 9449030588 and register names.

Shravana Maasa discourse commences at Suttur

The annual Shraavana Maasa discourse program held at the Suttur Srikshetra commenced in the divine presence of Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji. Mysuru District Additional Deputy Commissioner Dr. B.S. Manjunathaswamy inaugurated the program. Smt. Varsha Shivakumar, Smt. Priyadarshini Sanekoppa, Sha. Bra. Shri Sambasadashiva Swamiji, Chamarajanagara DySP Sri T.P. Shivakumar, Sri D.M. Siddalingaswamy and Prof. H.B. Devanna are seen in the picture.


Suttur, March 28, 2022: The Suranga Kavikruta ‘Trishashti Puraatana Chaaritram,” month-long discourse held at the Jagadguru Sri Veerasimhasana Mahasamsthana Math during the auspicious Shraavana Maasa commenced on Thursday, in the divine presence of Paramapujya Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji.

Dr. B.S. Manjunathaswamy, Deputy Commissioner, Mysuru, inaugurated the program. In his address, he observed that the Shraavana Maasa denotes prosperity. “You can see greenery everywhere during this month. Everybody’s lives should also become green like environment, which is the objective of such programs,” he said.

Sha. Bra. Shri Sambasadashiva Swamiji of the Sri Ukkinakante Math, Maadahalli, in Hunsur Taluk presided over the program. “Guru means a person who leads others from darkness to light. You can find peace of mind by participating in such Satsang programs and listening to the discourses,” he observed.

Sri T.P. Shivakumar, Superintendent of Police, Chamarajanagara District, in his address, said that the Shraavana Maasa discourse is one among the various programs organized by the Suttur Srimath for the welfare of society. “By listening to meaningful discourses, you can develop good character and build confidence,” he said.

Prof. H.B. Devanna of the JSS College delivered a discourse on ‘Trishashti Puraatana Chaaritram,’ and teacher Sri D.S. Siddalingaswamy presented a Kavyavachana (reciting of vachanas) program.

Smt. Varsha Shivakumar, achievers of the Gurukula and devotees from the surrounding villages, participated in the program.

Smt. Priyadarshini Sanekoppa, DySP, Chamarajanagara Division, rendered an invocation. Teachers Sri S. Chandramouleshwara welcomed, and Sri Andaiah Shirurmath gave a vote of thanks, along with mastering the program.

Bheemana Amavasya special pooja: Special poojas were offered at the shrines of Adijagadguru Sri Shivarathreeshwara Shivayogi Mahaswamiji, and the temples of Sri Mahadeshwara, Sri Someshwara, Sri Veerabhadreshwara, Sri Narayanaswamy, at the Srikshetra.

Peanut Chikki distribution to students program launched

ICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra Celebrates 94th ICAR Foundation Day

Suttur, July 16, 2022: The ICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Suttur, organized a live viewing of the 94th ICAR Foundation Day program, led by Union Agriculture Minister Sri Narendra Singh Tomar and Dr. Trilochan Mahapatra, Director, ICAR, in New Delhi.

During the event, Smt. Divya H.V., Senior Scientist and In-charge Head of JSS KVK, delivered a keynote address highlighting the history and establishment of ICAR. She also mentioned that the Union Agricultural Ministry is featuring success stories of 75,000 farmers across the country as part of the 75th Independence Day celebrations, including 110 success stories from farmers benefiting from ICAR JSS KVK support, which have been submitted to the Union Agriculture Ministry.

Former ZP member Sri Sadananda advised farmers to utilize renewable energy sources and adopt integrated crop management and organic manure practices to enhance their income. Renowned farmer and recipient of national awards, Srinivasamurthy from Siddanahundi, shared insights into various indigenous paddy varieties and how they contributed to his success as an agriculturist. He also emphasized the importance of organic farming.

Smt. Divya H.V. discussed the significance of seed treatment in integrated paddy management and maintaining a balance in chemical usage, light nutrients, and fertilizers. She also provided detailed information on dry seeders and mechanical sowing techniques.

Scientist Sri Shamraj elaborated on various renewable energy sources such as solar energy, wind energy, and water energy, highlighting how electricity can be generated using these methods. He also stressed the importance of limited use of petroleum and electricity.

The program witnessed the participation of JSS KVK assistants Rajanna and Kumaraswamy, along with 52 farmers from neighboring villages.

Promoting Cultural Awareness is Essential, Says Dr. S.P. Umadevi

Mysuru, July 16, 2022: Recognizing the significance of cultural literacy, Dr. S.P. Umadevi emphasized the need for cultural awareness to complement academic knowledge. Speaking at the Cultural and Sports Competitions Prize Distribution program organized by the PG Department of JSS College of Arts, Commerce, and Science, she highlighted the role of society, culture, and traditions in knowledge sharing throughout history.

“Literacy is not just confined to books; it encompasses our society and culture. Our knowledge and development are intricately linked to our society and culture. To foster prosperity and progress, we must prioritize cultural awareness alongside academic education,” noted Dr. S.P. Umadevi.

As the chief guest, she urged students to embrace cultural richness and make the most of their time by acquiring knowledge and developing essential values. She encouraged them to focus on practical actions rather than mere words and avoid negativity and criticism of others. Dr. S.P. Umadevi also stressed the importance of nurturing human values, preserving relationships, and becoming practical heroes rather than merely seeking recognition.

In his presidential address, Prof. B.V. Sambashivaiah, CEO of JSS College, highlighted the evolving role of extracurricular activities in education. He noted that cultural and sports activities have become compulsory components of the curriculum under the National Education Policy 2020. Prof. Sambashivaiah emphasized that participating in cultural activities fosters leadership qualities, organizational skills, critical thinking, effective communication, ethical values, and other essential attributes. He also emphasized the significance of sports in strengthening both the body and mind.

During the event, winners of various cultural and sports competitions were honored with prizes, including special endowment prizes. The program began with an invocation by student Kum. Sannidhi and team, and it was masterfully conducted by Kum. Chaitra. Principal Prof. M.P. Vijayendra Kumar, Cultural Forum Convener Dr. M.P. Somashekar, and Sports Forum Convener Sri M. Kartik were present. The vote of thanks was delivered by Kum. E. Sahaja.
