JSS College of Arts, Commerce and Science, Ooty Road, Mysuru-25 is organizing a NAAC-sponsored Online Two Day National Level Conference on Teaching, Learning and Evaluation Methods: Traditional to Blended Approaches on 11 and 12 July 2022. The conference was inaugurated virtually by Prof. Ved Prakash, Former Chairman, of UGC, MHRD, New Delhi who in his keynote address expressed that understanding the philosophy of the subject is very important in order to know the progress of knowledge. A student before studying the subject/ course must know the importance, limitations, and learning aspects of that subject, and also they should compare it with other subjects so that they get a complete picture of the subject. He further emphasized that certain academic standards should be laid in higher education institutions to achieve success in teaching-learning and stressed that this has to be implemented as early as possible. To bring this into practice, such an approach is required which encompasses interest, scope, learning outcomes, pedagogical tools, and performance of students and teachers in the subject so that the real potential of every student can be measured. Finally, he called upon all the stakeholders to take the right decision at the right time to make the students to be ready to face the competitive world. This can be done effectively by incorporating specific values in teaching-learning.
Presiding over the inaugural program, Prof. G. Hemantha Kumar, Vice Chancellor, University of Mysore stressed the significance of NEP-2020 in the present-day scenario and how it is going to help students in the future to develop the skills and also to get employed. Continuing the speech, he said that by making in-person and online learning complementary, blended learning creates a truly integrated classroom where the needs of all types of learners can be met. Keeping students engaged, stimulated, and motivated also helps teachers to be more effective and make more significant gains with their students.
Ms. Yashaswini and the group rendered an invocation. Prof. B.V. Sambashivaiah, Chief Executive welcomed; Principal, Prof. M.P. Vijayendra Kumar proposed a vote of thanks. The IQAC Coordinator and Organizing Secretary Dr. N. Rajendraprasad compeered the program.
In the two day event, there will be five technical sessions by resource persons from different parts of the country to share their knowledge, namely, Prof. Vimal Rarh, Prof. A. Balasubramanian, Prof. Amita Pandey Bhardwaj, Dr. Vimal Jerald, Dr. Priya Narayan. On both days there will be oral presentations by the participants from different institutions.

Mysuru, July 5, 2022: Prof. C. Naganna well known author and visiting professor, Manasagangotri, Mysuru said that we have to celebrate the multiplicity of languages by translating the available literature from one language to another language. Prof. Naganna, after inaugurating the one-day national level workshop on Linguistics and Translation, organized by the Department of Languages in association with IQAC, JSS College of Arts, Commerce and Science, on 5th July 2022, in his key-note address brought out various aspects of literary translations of prose-fiction. He said that translation occupies a central place from ancient period when classical Greek literature was translated into Latin and subsequently to other languages. He felt that linguistically gifted people translated many works and civilization stands on translation. Further he opined that translation expands our capacity to transcend our pre-conceptions and mis conceptions. Prof. Naganna said that the role of translation especially to English language expands the number of readers and a writer who has been translated to English will have world-wide recognition. If we refuse to accept literary translation then we will be condemned to live in our own arrogant parishes. Any Language itself thrives to mingle with other languages. The broadening of literary horizon is done through infusions and transfusions and linguistics purity is a myth. Linguistics and translation is like siami twins wherein one cannot live without the other. The moment a child learns to speak it is learning to translate as the child translates its thoughts.

Dr. Pankaj Dwivedi, Dept. of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Govt. of India, CIIL, Mysuru spoke on the Role of Linguistics in Language Education. Dr. M. V. Vishwanath, PG Dept. of Literature Kameshwar Singh Darbhanga Sanskrit University, Bihar spoke on Sanskrit Translation: Need and Challenges. In the last technical session Dr. Chandrashekara N Bettahalli, Dept. of Translation, Kuvempu Kannada Adhyayana Samsthe, Manasagangotri, Mysuru, addressed the gathering on the Ideal Translation and Skills of Translation.

A health checkup and awareness camp was organized for the inmates of the Senior Citizens’ Home at Suttur. JSS Hospital Medical Officer Dr. Devarajmurthy, Dentist Dr. Poornima, and team conducted the camp and gave several healthcare tips to the inmates.
