Suttur, January 12, 2022: The ICAR JSS Krishi Vignan Kendra organized a successful ‘Hebbala Avare HA-4 (hyacinth beans) crop field day’ in Arakere Village, K.R. Nagara Taluk, Mysuru District.

Addressing the farmers, Smt. She emphasized the importance of seed treatment and provided valuable insights into the precautionary measures necessary for seed production. Selected farmers from the village were earlier equipped with the necessary seeds and equipment for integrated crop treatment, including neem decoction, light nutrients, and fungicides for seed treatment. Comprehensive information on planting techniques, pest management, spraying neem decoction, and utilizing the vegetable abundance was also shared with the farmers. Subsequently, the farmers cultivated the new variety crop in their fields.

Farmers expressed their satisfaction with the new crop variety, acknowledging its superior performance compared to the previously used varieties. They reported improved yields and expressed their ability to sell the crop at favorable prices or utilize it for seed production in case of lower prices.

Smt. Divya H.V. emphasized the profitability of seed production, encouraging farmers to earn higher profits. She informed them that high-quality seeds, once separated and dried, would be purchased. “You can also store good quality seeds for your own use and for an extended period by using a mixture of ash and neem leaves. This variety can be grown in all seasons, enabling you to maximize your profits,” she added.

The ‘Hebbala Avare HA-4 crop field day’ served as a platform for farmers to witness the successful cultivation of the new variety and gain valuable knowledge to enhance their agricultural practices.
