Suttur, Jan. 01, 2021: The ICAR JSS Krishi Vignan Kendra, Suttur, had organised a cleanliness drive from December 16 to 20, 2020. The programme was launched by cleaning the JSS KVK campus by staff supported by the farmers. The ICAR JSS KVK office and premises were cleaned as the first part of the programme. Awareness was created among the farmers about the importance of cleaning cow stable and preparing compost fertilizer.
A programme to create awareness among the farmers and surrounding villagers on cleanliness and hygiene was also held as part of the cleanliness drive. Efforts were made to dispose of the garbage pile accumulated on the outskirts of Nagarle village. Awareness was also created among the villagers on keeping the drainage and surrounding areas clean and tidy. The villagers were also suggested on the requirement of disposing of the garbage piled up on the roadside of the canal in Kupparavalli village and information on preparing compost by making a garbage pit. The women were taught about the segregation of dry and wet household waste and preparing compost out of it and using the same for kitchen gardening purposes. The villagers of Sonnalli were taught how to convert sugarcane waste into compost in the fields.
A cleanliness drive was conducted at Maagudilu village in H.D. Kote Taluk on December 23, 2020. The leaders of the village shared information about village cleanliness. Awareness was created about keeping the drainages clean and maintaining hygiene in Alamburu Village. Information about developing a nutrition kitchen garden using rainwater harvesting was shared among the villagers of Kanakanagara Village. The villagers of Alatturu were educated about the segregation of household waste and safe disposal. Method of preparing compost, information on maintaining nutritious kitchen garden, village hygiene, and conservation of environment was shared among the villagers of Biligere Village.
