ICAR JSS KVK Organizes Successful Cleanliness Drive to Promote Hygiene and Environmental Conservation

Suttur, Jan. 01, 2021: The ICAR JSS Krishi Vignan Kendra (KVK) in Suttur conducted a comprehensive cleanliness drive from December 16 to 20, 2020. The initiative aimed to promote cleanliness, hygiene, and environmental conservation among farmers and villagers in the surrounding areas.

The cleanliness drive commenced with the cleaning of the JSS KVK campus by staff members and farmers. The ICAR JSS KVK office and premises were given priority in the cleaning process. Simultaneously, farmers were educated about the importance of maintaining clean cow stables and encouraged to prepare compost fertilizer.

As part of the drive, a program was organized to raise awareness among farmers and villagers about cleanliness and hygiene practices. Efforts were made to clear the accumulated garbage on the outskirts of Nagarle village, and villagers were educated on the significance of maintaining clean drainage systems and surrounding areas. Additionally, guidance was provided on disposing of roadside garbage along the canal in Kupparavalli village and instructed villagers on composting techniques using household waste for kitchen gardening. Women were specifically taught about segregating dry and wet waste and utilizing compost for gardening purposes. The residents of Sonnalli village learned about converting sugarcane waste into compost in their fields.

The cleanliness drive extended to various other villages as well. Maagudilu village in H.D. Kote Taluk witnessed a successful cleanup, with village leaders emphasizing the importance of cleanliness. In Alamburu Village, awareness campaigns focused on maintaining clean drainage systems and practicing good hygiene. Residents of Kanakanagara Village were provided information on developing nutrition kitchen gardens using rainwater harvesting techniques. In Alatturu village, residents were educated on proper household waste segregation and safe disposal methods. The villagers of Biligere Village received guidance on composting, maintaining nutritious kitchen gardens, village hygiene, and environmental conservation.

The ICAR JSS KVK’s cleanliness drive proved instrumental in promoting cleanliness, hygiene, and environmental consciousness among farmers and villagers. By encouraging proper waste management practices and maintaining clean surroundings, the initiative aimed to create a healthier and more sustainable environment for all.
