Suttur, January 26, 2022: The JSS Educational Institutions in Suttur commemorated the 73rd Republic Day with a modest yet meaningful celebration.

The national flag was hoisted by the music teachers of JSS Residential School, Kum. Bharathi and Kum. Bhanumati, in a solemn ceremony.

Addressing the audience, Sri D.M. Mahesh, Warden of Basveshwara Students Hostel, highlighted the significance of Republic Day as a unifying occasion that transcends religious, caste, and linguistic differences. He emphasized the importance of displaying national strength and unity to the world. “Our tradition includes the conferral of prestigious titles such as Padmavibhushan, Padmabhushan, Padmashri, and Paramvirchakra to commendable achievers and bravery awards to children on Republic Day in Delhi. As a democratic nation, we, the citizens, are the true rulers. Our country is known for its peace, amity, and brotherhood. The law is equal for all under our constitution. A true patriot is one who lives and works for the betterment of the motherland,” he expressed.

Sri G.L. Tripurantaka, Coordinating Officer of JSS Educational Institutions, presided over the event, lending his guidance and support.

Distinguished heads of various departments, including Sri Sampath, Smt. H.V. Divya, Dr. H.M. Mahesh, Sri S. Shivaswamy, Sri G. Shivamallu, Smt. C.P. Nirmala, Sri B.M. Siddappa, Sri G.M. Shadakshari, and Smt. P. Susheela, along with others, graced the occasion with their presence.

The program commenced with an invocation performed by the school students. Kum. H.M. Savitha extended a warm welcome to the guests and the gathering, while Smt. B. Vedvathi delivered a vote of thanks. Smt. G.S. Jagadambika adeptly managed the proceedings of the program.

Mysuru, January 26, 2022: JSS College of Arts, Commerce, and Science on Ooty Road in Mysuru commemorated the 73rd Republic Day on Wednesday, January 26, 2022.

During his address, esteemed chief guest Prof. C. Naganna, a retired Professor from the University of Mysore, highlighted the importance of constitutional ethics and the need to create awareness among the public. He emphasized the historical significance of India as a resource-rich nation that has faced foreign invasions and colonial rule. “Our independence was won through the sacrifices of countless freedom fighters. Independence Day and Republic Day hold immense significance for our nation. The Indian Constitution, comprising 12 volumes, was formulated after extensive discussions and consultations post-independence. Our constitution enshrines principles of equality, brotherhood, and freedom. One crucial aspect of the Indian Republic is the equal treatment of all religions. Economic development must be accompanied by social progress, and in today’s interconnected world, fostering universal alliances is essential. The government must address the growing inequality and the economic slowdown resulting from the post-COVID-19 pandemic. It is imperative to safeguard the educational sector, as any setback will hinder social progress. In this regard, the JSS Educational Institutions have played a commendable role. The success of the JSS Group can be attributed to the blessings of Paramapujya Jagadguru Sri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji,” he remarked.

Prof. B.V. Sambashivaiah, the Chief Executive Officer of the College, hoisted the national flag, marking the commencement of the stage programs. The event commenced with an invocation by Kum. Sushmita. Dr. H.C. Honnappa, the Principal of the College, extended a warm welcome to the esteemed guests. Dr. L. Vinaykumar expertly compered the program, while S. Somashekar, the Principal of the PU College, delivered a vote of thanks.

Mysuru, January 25, 2022: JSS College of Arts, Commerce, and Science on Ooty Road in Mysuru observed National Voters’ Day on January 25, 2022.

Addressing the students, Principal Dr. H.C. Honnappa emphasized the value of the right to vote. He urged the students, who are the future builders of the nation, to understand the importance of voting. “There is a distinction between voting in other countries and in our country. It is crucial that everyone exercises their right to vote without succumbing to allurements,” he stated.

Prof. B.V. Sambashivaiah, the College CEO, presided over the program.

The event commenced with an invocation by Nitin C., a second-year B.A. student. Smt. Sujatha Kumar, Head of the History Department, extended a warm welcome, while Smt. R.G. Asha, Head of the Political Science Department, administered the oath to all attendees. The oath was administered to students in their respective classrooms, with over 2000 students taking the pledge.

Suttur, January 25, 2022: The ICAR JSS Krishi Vignan Kendra celebrated National Girl Child Day on December 24, 2022, with a focus on promoting gender equality, education for girl children, raising awareness about their health and nutrition, preventing female foeticide, eliminating gender discrimination, and addressing violence against girls.

Smt. H.V. Divya, Incharge Chief and Senior Scientist at ICAR JSS KVK, actively participated in the program. In her address, she highlighted the objectives of National Girl Child Day and provided information about government initiatives such as “Sukanya Samruddhi” and “Bhagyalakshmi” that support the education of underprivileged girl children.

Smt. Mamatha A., Officer from the Mysuru District Child Protection Unit, shared insights on the changes that girls experience during adolescence. She emphasized the importance of open discussions about these changes, as well as the rights of girl children.

Smt. Netravathi Yettinamani, Home Scientist at JSS KVK, addressed the major challenges faced by girls during adolescence, particularly anemia. She discussed the causes, symptoms, and problems associated with anemia, as well as the importance of nutrition and iron-rich foods for preventing and addressing this condition.

Around 50 students from JSS High School, Suttur, along with their teacher Smt. Yashoda, actively participated in the program. Following the stage programs, all attendees had the opportunity to visit the demonstration unit of JSS KVK.

Suttur, January 17, 2022: The Sri Shivarathreeshwara Shivayogi Mahaswamiji’s Jatra Mahotsavm which was scheduled to begin from January 28, at the Suttur Srikshetra in Nanjangud Taluk of Mysuru District has been canceled as per the government guidelines.

Following the increasing number of COVID-19 and Omicron cases, the government has imposed night curfew and weekend curfew. The government also has announced the rules will be toughened in case the pandemic increases. It has restricted the organizing of public programs, Jatra Mahotsav, etc., following which the Jatra Mahotsav has been canceled completely. Accordingly, there will be no program including the Rathotsava, Teppotsava, Mass marriage program, Exhibition, Agriculture Mela, Wrestling matches, Competitions, Cultural Programs, etc. There will be no shops either at the venue. Only traditional rituals will be conducted symbolically for one day.

There will be no entry for anyone, including the sponsors, devotees, and general public, at the Srikshetra. Mysuru, January 14, 2022: “ The rapidly expanding knowledge zone has revolutionized the way we learn, requiring educational institutions to adapt and embrace new approaches, according to Prof. N.S. Harinarayana, Head of the Department of Libraries and Information Science.

Prof. Harinarayana shared his views during the UGC-sponsored ‘State-level Evolution and Rejuvenation Program’ held at JSS College of Arts, Commerce, and Science on Ooty Road, Mysuru.

In his inaugural address, he emphasized the need for research to keep pace with the growing quantity and quality of knowledge. He highlighted that educational institutions must evolve to meet the changing demands of education in today’s context. Referring to the new National Education Policy, he stressed the importance of adopting innovative teaching methods and techniques to harness the possibilities and opportunities it offers. Prof. Harinarayana further emphasized that teachers play a crucial role in achieving the primary objectives of education and nurturing values within it.

Prof. B.V. Sambashivaiah, Chief Executive of the College, elaborated on the transformative nature of education in the current era. He highlighted the significant differences between the old and new education policies and stressed the need to align higher education with job requirements. Emphasizing the link between research and national GDP growth, Prof. Sambashivaiah underscored the importance of strengthening higher education. He also emphasized the role of skill-based education in tackling unemployment and encouraged teachers to enhance their professionalism through such programs.

The program featured lectures by distinguished speakers, including Prof. S. Rama, Retired Professor from the Regional Education Institute, Mysuru; Prof. A. Balasubramanian, Retired Professor from the Geology Department at the University of Mysore; and Smt. Jayashri, Advisor in Information Technology at the University of Mysore. The event was well-received by the participants.
