Suttur, January 25, 2022: The ICAR JSS Krishi Vignan Kendra observed the ‘National Girl Child’ Day, on December 24, 2022.
Ensuring gender equality, girl children’s education, creating awareness among the parents about the health and nutrition of girl children, prevention of female foeticide, eliminating gender discrimination, prevention of violence against girl children are the objectives of observing the ‘National Girl Child Day.’
ICAR JSS KVK Incharge Chief and Senior Scientist Smt. H. V. Divya participated in the program. In her address, she explained the objectives of the ‘National Girl Child Day,’ and also provided information about the various facilities provided by the government for the education of poor girl children like ‘Sukanya Samruddhi,’ ‘Bhagyalakshmi,’ etc.
In her address, the Mysuru District Child Protection Unit officer Smt. Mamatha A. shared her views about the changes that happen among girls during their adolescence, methods they have to adapt to the chnages, discuss openly their problems, and shared information about the rights of girl children.
Mysuru District Child Protection Unit Counsellor Smt. Mamata M. S. explained the functions and activities of the child protection unit.
JSS KVK Home Scientist Smt. Netravathi Yettinamani spoke about the major problems girls face in their adolescence including anemia, reasons for it, its symptoms, problems that occur due to anemia, nutrition required for improvement of blood in the body, and preventing anemia through food habits like consuming food containing more iron content.
About 50 students of the JSS High School, Suttur and Smt. Yashoda, Highschool teacher was present in the program. After the stage programs, all those who attended the program visited the demonstration unit of the JSS KVK.
