Renowned Speaker Dr. H.N. Lakshminarasimhamurthy Advocates Worship of Mother Earth at JSS Residential School Event
Suttur, January 18, 2024: Dr. H.N. Lakshminarasimhamurthy, a distinguished resident of Mandya now residing in the USA, delivered a compelling address at the JSS Residential School in Suttur on January 17, 2024. The esteemed speaker underscored the significance of worshiping Mother Earth and emphasized her role as a benevolent provider of resources and life.
In his address to the students, Dr. Lakshminarasimhamurthy likened Mother Earth to a goddess, urging everyone to recognize and appreciate the manifold gifts she bestows upon humanity. The speaker encouraged students to cultivate essential virtues such as discipline, self-control, human values, and a deep connection with Indian culture.
Highlighting the transformative power of spiritual practices, Dr. Lakshminarasimhamurthy suggested that students could enhance their academic performance and personal growth by incorporating regular prayers, yoga, and meditation into their daily routines. By fostering a stronger bond with Mother Earth, he believed that students could develop a holistic approach to their studies and lives.
The event also provided an opportunity to acknowledge the remarkable achievements of Dr. Vivekmurthy, the son of Dr. H.N. Lakshminarasimhamurthy. Dr. Vivekmurthy made history by becoming the first Indian to be selected as the ‘Medical Director’ in the United States, the highest position in the field of medicine, during the presidency of Barack Obama.

Suttur, January 6, 2024: The ICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra in Suttur orchestrated a highly successful Field Day at Huliyalu Village, Hunsur Taluk, focusing on the introduction of Arka Mangala variety in Cowpea and Arka Amogha variety in Hyacinth Beans. The event also spotlighted the significance of Integrated Pest Management to optimize crop yield and enhance farmer profitability.
Varietal Advantages: Farmers were introduced to the exceptional attributes of Arka Mangala Cowpea and Arka Amogha Hyacinth Beans varieties, celebrated for their early yield, superior quality, and increased market demand. Dr. Vinay G.M., an expert from ICAR JSS KVK, emphasized the potential for higher profits through the adoption of these varieties.
Knowledge Dissemination: The Field Day aimed to augment awareness among farmers about Hyacinth Beans, providing insights into various diseases, pests, and holistic pest management strategies. Method demonstrations were conducted to showcase the practical benefits of the recommended varieties and integrated pest control practices.
Success Stories: A notable farmer shared his success story, underscoring the challenges posed by pests in Hyacinth Beans cultivation and the transformative impact of adopting protective measures. Dr. Prasad Y.P., a Plant Conservation Scientist from JSS KVK, recommended protective nets, neem oil, and Imamectin Benzoate as effective pest control measures, leading to a substantial improvement in the farmer’s yield and profitability.
Expert Guidance: The participation of Dr. Vinay G.M. and Dr. Prasad Y.P. ensured that farmers received expert advice on crop management and pest control strategies, further empowering them to make informed decisions.
Community Engagement: With over 30 farmers actively participating in the program, the event showcased the community’s keen interest and enthusiasm for adopting progressive agricultural practices.
