Exploring the Essence of Indian Culture: Insights from Educational Leaders

Mysuru, April 15, 2024: Dr. B.V. Vasanthkumar, Principal of Maharani Women’s Arts College, delivered a thought-provoking address at the inaugural function of a camp organized for Public School teachers at Sri Suttur Kshetra from April 11 to 13. The event witnessed an engaging discourse on various facets of education and culture, featuring esteemed educators from across the region.

In his enlightening talk on the topic ‘Indian Culture,’ Dr. Vasanthkumar underscored the profound influence of ancient rishis, saints, and eminent leaders in shaping the essence of Indian culture. He emphasized that Indian culture is not merely a set of customs and rituals but a dynamic reflection of human experiences over generations. “Our culture is a way of life, deeply rooted in the wisdom of our forefathers. While external manifestations of culture vary, it is the internal values and emotional richness that truly define Indian ethos,” he remarked.

The event also witnessed insightful discussions on ‘Classroom Management’ by Prof. Siddu Yapalaparavi from Kanakadasa PU College, Gadag, who stressed the pivotal role of teachers in fostering values and creating an encouraging learning environment. Prof. Yapalaparavi highlighted the importance of understanding students’ perspectives and nurturing their interests to facilitate holistic development.

Addressing the contemporary challenges of the digital age, Prof. B.M. Nandini, Assistant Professor at the National Institute of Engineering, Mysuru, shed light on ‘Digital Threats and Safety.’ She emphasized the significance of cybersecurity measures in safeguarding educational institutions and urged for regular system updates and password changes to mitigate digital risks effectively.

The camp, graced by the divine blessings of His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji, featured a blend of spiritual practices and recreational activities. Participants engaged in group prayers, yoga-meditation sessions, and desi games, fostering camaraderie and rejuvenation.

Over 100 educators from diverse regions including Chamarajanagara, Mysuru, Mandya, Bengaluru, and beyond, actively participated in the enriching camp, reflecting a collective commitment to educational excellence and cultural preservation.

Free Mass Marriage Program in Suttur on April 21, 2024

Suttur, April 04, 2024: The Suttur Sri Veerasimhasana Samsthana Math will be conducting a free mass marriage program on April 21, 2024, Sunday, with the divine blessings of Paramapujya Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji.

Since February 2009, the Samsthana Math has been conducting monthly free mass marriage programs, apart from the mass marriage program held during the Adijagadguru’s Jatra Mahotsav at Suttur Srikshetra.

This program aims to help couples who are economically challenged and cannot afford the expenses of a traditional wedding ceremony. Sri Haraguru Charamurthy will participate in the mass marriages held at Suttur Srikshetra and bless the couples.

The program is open to couples where the groom is above 21 years of age and the bride is above 18 years of age. Interested individuals can send applications along with photographs of the bride and groom, caste certificates, and certificate or school marks card copy as proof of age. Child marriages are strictly prohibited.

Empowering Women Through Sports and Culture: JSS College Hosts Inspiring Cultural and Sports Event

Mysuru, March 27, 2024: The JSS College for Women’s Student Hostel Sports Forum hosted a memorable event celebrating women’s participation in cultural and sports activities. The occasion witnessed the presence of notable figures such as Shri Amshi Prasannakumar, Executive Editor of Kannadaprabha Newspaper, Mysore Edition, and Prof. B.V. Sambashivaiah, Chief Executive of the College. The program was held at the JSS College of Arts, Commerce and Science, Ooty Road, Mysuru.

Shri Amshi Prasannakumar, in his address as the chief guest, lauded the increasing involvement of women in various cultural and sports events, citing recent successes in Women’s Cricket and hockey tournaments. He underscored the positive impact of such participation on societal dynamics and urged the cultivation of extracurricular activities alongside academic pursuits. Furthermore, Prasannakumar emphasized the importance of newspaper reading for enhancing knowledge, language skills, and communication abilities among students.

In his remarks, Prof. B.V. Sambashivaiah, presiding over the program, emphasized the need for society to recognize and encourage the strength and potential of women. He emphasized equal opportunities for women to thrive and succeed, urging them to actively participate in extracurricular activities and develop leadership qualities. Prof. Sambashivaiah highlighted the significance of participation itself, transcending mere victory or defeat, in fostering holistic growth and development.

Mahashivarathri Fervor Engulfs Sri Sutturkshetra

Suttur, March 20, 2028: The sacred precincts of Shri Suttur Shrikshetra reverberated with divine fervor as devotees converged to celebrate the Mahashivarathri festival in the esteemed presence of Paramapujya Jagadguru Shri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji.

Throughout the night, a series of special pujas and programs unfolded, enveloping the atmosphere in spiritual splendor. The sanctified rituals included puja, Rudrabhisheka, Ashotattara, and Mahamangalarati, conducted at the Adijagadguru Shri Shivarathreeshwara Shivayogi Swamiji’s shrine, as well as at the temples dedicated to Shri Mahadeshwara, Shri Someshwara, Shri Veerbhadreshwara, Shri Nanjundeshwara, and Shri Narayanswamy.

The evening witnessed a tapestry of devotional and cultural performances, enriching the spiritual experience for all attendees. Students from the JSS Residential School, Suttur, presented a soulful devotional program, followed by melodious renditions of devotional songs by Shri Ruthwik C. Raj and his team from Mysuru. The JSS B.Ed. College, Suttur, captivated the audience with a poignant drama titled ‘Bhookailasa,’ while Dr. Lakshmandas Sastry from Mallasandra, Tumakuru, regaled the gathering with an enchanting shivakatha recital.

The melodic strains of devotional songs continued with performances by the Naadalahari team from Mysuru, the Shri Siddappaji Neelagararu of Ramasmudra, presenting the Neelagarara mela, and the Shri Basaveshwara Bhajan team of Horalawadi offering soul-stirring bhajans.

Adding to the spiritual ambiance, bhajan teams from Kadali Mahila Vedike, Chunchahalli, Chamarajanagara, Sonahalli, Horadalli, Badanavalu, Hootgalli, Devanuru, Helavarahundi, Alahalli, and Bhogayyanahundi presented continuous bhajan programs at the Shrimath and in the shrine premises.

In a heartfelt gesture, Dr. H.S. Raghavendra Rao and family offered silver coverings for the door frames of the Shri Nanjundeshwara Temple, symbolizing their devotion and reverence.

Amidst the spiritual celebrations, over 50 youngsters received shivadeekshe, marking a significant step in their spiritual journey. The event witnessed the participation of thousands of devotees, united in their devotion and reverence.

This sacred occasion unfolded as part of the Shri Tontada Siddalingeshwara Swami Kaggere Jatra Mahotsav, held on March 15, 2024.

Under the benevolent gaze of the revered deity, special pujas, Rudrabhisheka, Alankara, and Mahamangalarathi graced the proceedings, infusing the air with spiritual resonance.
