Educational institutions should become skillful human resource centers: Prov. B.V. Sambashivaiah

Mysuru, January 6, 2023: “Educational institution should emerge as skillful human resource centers instead of becoming just factories producing graduates. Today’s education has become completely employment-based, it is the reality we have to agree. Students should gain deep knowledge in whichever subject they opt for. They should develop skills along with knowledge. Recognizing the need of skills among youngsters in order to taste success, the Union Human Resource Ministry has introduced skill-based programs in many reputed educational institutions. The JSS College of Arts, Commerce and Science, Ooty Road, Mysuru, is one among them, which is a matter of pride. There are many professional and skill-based courses available for students in this college. Students should select whichever suits them well and make maximum utilization of the opportunity,” observed Prof. B.V. Sambashivaiah, Chief Executive of the College.

He delivered the keynote address at the valedictory of the Cultural and Sports Meet 2022-23, held at the JSS PU College, Ooty Road, Mysuru, on January 5. In his address, he said, “the art of collaboration and community living, analytical perspective, awareness of proper utilization of technology, leadership quality, ethics and value-based perspective towards life are the foundation stones for success. Indian actors Rajnikanth, Aksay Kumar, industrialist Dheerubhai Ambani, sports personalities like Sachin Tendulkar, Ronaldo, etc., had dreams and worked hard towards realizing their dreams and became world famous.”

In his valedictory address, Prabhuswamy C. Malimath, Mysuru Akashavani announcer said, “instead of trying to become what your parents, relatives or friends want, you should find out what is your desire and how your life should be. Instead of dreaming of just scoring more marks in exams, you should also develop general knowledge.”

“Love all languages equally and understand how to use properly, clearly, and with responsibility. In several situations wrong usage of a language will be considered as a crime. Akashavani broadcasts all types of programs that are liked by all categories of people in the society. You can develop your general knowledge by listening to radio,” he added.

Ekalavya Award winning international athlete Smt. M.L. Neelan observed, “Discipline, honest and hard work, physical capabilities and fitness are very important to achieve in sports. I feel so proud and happy to note that the Govt. of India is encouraging sportspersons in various ways under the ‘Khelo Bharat’ program.”

Presiding over the program, Nagamallesh, Deputy Director, Department of PU Education expressed his concern towards the youngsters on their love for mobile phones. “Majority of the students are not focusing on gaining worldly knowledge. Don’t depend on the notes given by your teachers in the classrooms to know more about the subject, you should read the textbooks and try to understand the text and improve your knowledge. A deep learning is essential to understand the subject. In today’s competitive world, having a deep knowledge is very essential in order to become successful in any field. Your knowledge increases only by sharing, not by concealing it. Sharing your knowledge or whatever you have learnt with others will help you get more clarity about the subject,” he explained.

Second PU students Kum. Spandana and Kum. Gowri presented the cultural and sports reports for the year 2022-23. Prizes were distributed to the winners of various sports and cultural activities.

JSS PU College Principal S. Somashekar, Physical Education Director T. Aravind were present on the dais. Earlier the program commenced with an invocation by teaching staff. Second PU student Kum. Sushma anchored the program. Lecturers T. Gurupadaswamy welcomed the guests and English lecturer Smt. V. Vani gave a vote of thanks.
