Dr. Pandurangarao, Divisional Secretary of KSEEB School Education Division, Mysuru, and Ex-officio Joint Director, presided over the event, stressing that spiritual practice leads to liberation. He encouraged devotees to imbibe Sadgurus’ teachings, fostering virtuous lives while avoiding desires that disrupt peace.
In his address, Dr. Pandurangarao stated that Shravana Maasa, a revered month for Hindus, traditionally marks the beginning of education in the Gurukul system. He pointed out that discourse programs like these help people understand Sadguru’s messages, adopt spiritual values, and develop a more meaningful and peaceful life. He remarked that although many beings seek satisfaction through basic needs like food, human beings, despite having access to facilities, often remain dissatisfied due to desires and restless minds. He advised the attendees to adopt spirituality and a life of moderation to achieve contentment.
Sri G.S. Raghu, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Nanjangud, delivered the valedictory speech. He emphasized that Shravana Maasa marks the start of Varsha Rutu and the Chaturmaasa Vratha undertaken by saints and urged attendees to understand and follow spiritual teachings while sharing them with others. He praised Sri Suttur Math for its continuous efforts to guide society on the path of devotion.

Suttur, August 31, 2024: On the 28th day of the Shravana Masa discourse program at Sri Sutturkshetra, Sri H.B. Devanna urged devotees to lead meaningful lives without causing harm to society. He explained the importance of consciousness, a unique human trait, and stressed that life must be used to gain knowledge, wealth, and virtues. Quoting Purandaradasa, he emphasized the value of life and the need for self-reflection. He outlined the four stages of life, advising that charity and helping others are vital to achieving a life of purpose and spiritual fulfillment.
According to Sri Devanna, the first stage of life should focus on acquiring knowledge, the second on earning wealth, and the third on understanding spirituality and engaging in philanthropic efforts. Failure to properly dedicate oneself during these stages, he warned, leads to hardship in the final stage of life. He emphasized that human birth is a divine gift, and individuals must seize the opportunity to live virtuously, offering food, water, and other help to those in need. Even if unable to help directly, one should at least avoid causing harm.
The program commenced with a prayer and included a poem recitation by Sri D.M. Siddalingaswamy. Several prominent devotees, including Dr. M.C. Nataraju, Sri K.V. Yogesh, Sri B.S. He explained that individuals should prioritize their duties without expectation and maintain a pure path towards their goals. Citing Mahatma Gandhi’s adherence to non-violence, he underscored the value of simplicity and a mindset that embraces both success and failure equally.
Sri Devanna further reflected on the fleeting nature of time, comparing it to a broken pearl that can never be regained, and urged participants not to delay doing good deeds.
