Awaken the Spirit of Nationality: Dr. Jyothi Shankar urges Students on Republic Day

Mysuru, January 26, 2019: Dr. Jyothi Shankar, Assistant Professor of Kannada at Karnataka State Open University, Muktha Gangothri Mysuru, delivered a powerful message on the occasion of the 70th Republic Day celebration at JSS College of Arts, Commerce & Science, B. N. Road, Mysuru. Emphasizing the importance of national pride, language, and a positive approach to life, Dr. Shankar urged students to become agents of change and foster a deep sense of respect for their country.

Dr. Jyothi spoke passionately, encouraging students to take pride in their land and language. She emphasized the need for a positive outlook and advised students to focus on what India has to offer rather than questioning its worth. Drawing attention to India’s rich contributions to science and technology, she urged students to harness this knowledge to make the world marvel at their accomplishments. Dr. Jyothi called for a departure from a subservient mindset and the cultivation of respect for parents, teachers, and the motherland.

Highlighting the role of parents in shaping a child’s values, she urged them to instill a sense of self-respect, freedom, and a spirit of nationality in their children. She stressed the importance of preserving and promoting India’s rich heritage and culture among the youth.

The National Flag was hoisted by Prof. B.V. Sambashivaiah, Chief Executive of the College, who also received a guard of honor from the NCC cadets. The event was graced by Prof. Mahadevappa M, Principal, JSS Degree College, who welcomed the guests and the gathering.

Shri S Somashaker, Principal, JSS PU College, expressed gratitude in the vote of thanks. Prof. P. M Mahadevaswamy, convener of the National Festivals Committee, was also present during the event.

Remembering Holymen Inspires Introspection: HH Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji

Suttur, January 24, 2019: Paramapujya Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji emphasized the significance of remembering and seeking the blessings of holymen as a means to introspect and cultivate inner growth.

He participated in a thanksgiving program organized at Suttur to honor the activists involved in the successful conduct of the 1059th Jayanthi Mahotsav of Adijagadguru Sri Shivarathreeshwara Shivayogi Swamiji in Shivamogga. Expressing his appreciation, he commended the sincerity, devotion, discipline, and interest demonstrated by the people of Shivamogga throughout the program.

Sri B. S. Yeddyurappa, former Chief Minister, Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly, and patron of the Jayanthi program Committee in Shivamogga, expressed his initial concerns about the program’s reception but was pleased to witness the enthusiastic participation of thousands of people. He attributed the success of all the programs, including the exhibition, seminar, unity jatra, and other events, to the combined efforts of the organizers and the divine blessings of Paramapujya Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji.

Leaders such as Sri Basava Marulasidda Swamiji of the Basava Kendra, Shivamogga, and Dr. Sri Mahanta Swamiji of Jade Sri Samsthana Math praised the organizing committee for their successful execution of the Jayanthi Mahotsav. Sri S. Rudregowda, Committee President and MLC, appreciated the organizers for instilling a sense of religious and cultural belonging among the youth.

Nagashri Pratap, former Chamarajanagara ZP President, expressed her happiness for the active participation of women in various programs held as part of the Jayanthi Mahotsav.

During the event, tributes were paid to Sri Sri Sri Shivakumara Mahaswamiji of Siddaganga Math, Tumakuru, who recently passed away.

The event was attended by Sri Pratap Simha, MP, Sri L. Nagendra, Sri C.S. Niranjan Kumar, Sri Ravikumar, former Ministers Sri M. Shivanna, former MLAs Sri Bharathi Shankar, Sri C. Ramesh, Sri Mahadevaiah, Sri Thontadarya, Sri K. Shivaram, and others.

The program began with an invocation by school students, followed by an introductory talk by Prof. D.S. Sadashivamurthy. Sri G. L. Tripurantaka extended a warm welcome, and Sri B. Niranjanmurthy delivered the vote of thanks. The event was hosted by Dr. Rechanna.

Sports will help for the overall development of students – Prof. B.V. Sambashivaiah

Mysuru, January 24, 2019: The Annual Sports Meet of the JSS Arts, Commerce, and Science, College was held on dt: 19.01.2019, in the college premises on B.N. Road, Mysuru. Prof. M. Mahadevappa, Principal of the college inaugurated the sports meet.

Prof. B.V. Sambashivaiah, CEO of the College presided over the function. In his address to the students, he opined that sports is one of the most important parts in the extra-curricular activities, as it helps the students to develop good health, physical strength, improves concentration and build leadership qualities. It also helps for the overall development of the students, he added.

Sri M. Kartik, Director, Physical Education Department, was present in the programme.

While student Sri Vrushabhendra gave an invocation, Sri B.L. Kiran, Assistant Lecturer welcomed and Sri R. Mallesh, Assistant Lecturer gave a vote of thanks. Dr. L. Vinay Kumar, NCC Officer anchored the programme.

Swami Vivekananda: A Beacon of Inspiration for the Youth, Says S. J. Krishna

Kollegal, January 18, 2019: Sri S. J. Krishna, Senior cadre Civil Judge, hailed Swami Vivekananda as a powerhouse of inspiration, a fountain of spirit, and a great religious leader and monk who introduced India to the entire world. He made these remarks while inaugurating a special lecture on ‘Skill Development’ organized by the Youth Red Cross Society, Kollegal Taluk unit, in association with the Legal Services Committee, Taluk Advocates Committee, and Nehru Yuva Kendra, as part of the National Youth Week, at JSS Women’s College in Kollegal.

Speaking to the students, Sri Krishna emphasized the universal appeal and influence of Swami Vivekananda’s ideologies. He urged the youth to understand and embrace the teachings of Swami Vivekananda, as it is their responsibility as Indians. Sri Krishna noted that the observance of January 12th as Youth Day worldwide is a testament to the acceptance and relevance of Swami Vivekananda and his principles.

The program was presided over by Prof. Umesh, Principal of JSS Women’s College, Kollegal. In his address, Prof. Umesh emphasized that our lives themselves are a reflection of India, and studying the life of Swami Vivekananda is crucial to understanding his profound impact. He described Swami Vivekananda’s life as a success story.

During the event, senior advocate Sri Madhusudan spoke about the celebration of Youth Day, while advocate Sri D. Venkatachala discussed the importance of skill development. Both speakers urged the students to utilize their talents and embrace Swami Vivekananda’s ideologies.

Students Should Live with Heart in Society, Says Young Scientist Drone Pratap

Kollegal, January 17, 2019: Young scientist ‘Drone’ Pratap emphasized that students should not merely seek a graduation certificate but strive to live wholeheartedly in society. He made these remarks while inaugurating the exhibition of portraits and books of Swami Vivekananda at JSS Women’s College in Kollegal. The exhibition was organized by the Library and Information Department of the college as part of the National Youth Week, commemorating Swami Vivekananda Jayanti.

Reflecting on the impact of Swami Vivekananda, Drone Pratap stated that the revered figure was not only a patriot but also an inspirational figure who motivated thousands of youth through his messages and preaching. Expressing concern about the lack of strength and knowledge among today’s youth, Drone Pratap urged students to cultivate love for their country and contribute to its development. He shared his personal dream of innovating and enhancing the capabilities of his drone invention to benefit farmers, soldiers, and people during natural calamities.

In his address, Prof. Umesh, Principal of JSS Women’s College, Kollegal, highlighted the modern world’s allurements and emphasized the importance of students reconnecting with their culture and traditions. Literature is a Flowing River, Says Dr. S. P. Umadevi

Mysuru, January 15, 2019: Dr. S. P. Umadevi, a renowned litterateur and Assistant Professor at JSS Women’s College, Mysuru, compared literature to a flowing river, full of newness and modernity. She expressed this view during the inauguration of the ‘Interaction with Litterateur’ program, jointly organized by the Kannada Post Graduation Department of JSS College of Arts, Commerce, and Science, in association with the Kannada Book Authority, Government of Karnataka.

Engaging with students, Dr. Umadevi discussed various topics, including language, literature, culture, and media. She emphasized the importance of utilizing and presenting one’s talent, respecting one’s culture and language, and making responsible choices in media consumption. Drawing from her personal experience growing up in Suttur, she highlighted the significant role it played in shaping her as a litterateur.

Prof. B.V. Sambashivaiah, CEO of the College complex, commended the students for engaging with a litterateur, as it demonstrated an understanding of the essence of their works. He praised Dr. Umadevi for her non-sectarian literary contributions, which focus on social upliftment and gender equality. Prof. Sambashivaiah encouraged women, who are increasingly pursuing higher education, to participate in expressive media.
