Mysuru, November 1, 2019: “The present Karnataka State has been formed as a result of the struggle and sacrifices of so many leaders. Like Karnataka which stands united from Bidar to Chamarajanagara, we the people should also unite mentally too,” opined Sri Amshi Prasannakumar, renowned litterateur and Assistant Editor of Kannadaprabha.
He participated as a chief guest in a programme held at the JSS College of Arts, Commerce and Science, B.N. Road, Mysuru, as part of the 64th Kannada Rajyotsava celebrations. “The name of Karnataka, Kannadiga and Kannada is resounding at the international level today. Under such circumstances it is very sad to listen to voices of separation. North Karnataka and South Karnataka are not separate. Likewise, the coastal Karnataka is also not separate. All these combine to become a whole state. If there are problems let us focus on solving it, let us all move forward together. These days people of North Karnataka and South Karnataka are responding to each others’ problems well and this is a good development. I wish this continues the same way. Let us all walk together and save and develop our state,” he said.
Prof. B.V. Sambashivaiah, Chief Executive of the College hoisted the flag. He expressed his view that such programmes are essential to discuss our land and language and apply our thoughts. “Programmes like Kannada Rajyotsava should be organised to understand the uniqueness and the problems of the land and language. As kannadigas we should try to uplift our language without creating any obstacles. People of a country like Japan use only their mother tongue even during bilateral talks. But we are infatuated towards the English language. We should also use only our mother tongue even at the International level. It helps our language to grow beyond boundaries. Let us all join hands for the development of our land and language,” he added.
Prof. M. Mahadevappa, Principal, Degree College welcomed the guests and the gathering. Sri S. Somashekar, Principal, JSS PU College gave a vote of thanks. The programme was compered by Dr. B.S. Sudeep, Head, Kannada PG Dept. Students of various PG departments presented the State Anthem, along with the Raitha Geethe, poems that depicted the history of Kannada literature and vachana recital.
