Revered Sri Abhinava Gavisiddeshwara Mahaswamy of the Koppal Math speaking to the devotees at a discourse held in the presence of His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Shivaratri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji, during his visit to Suttur Srikshetra.

Suttur, October 10, 2026: Life is a confluence of experiences, and individuals should learn to embrace the good while drawing lessons from their experiences, said Pujya Sri Abhinava Gavisiddeshwara Swamiji of Koppal during a discourse at Suttur Srikshetra. He was speaking on the occasion of his arrival at the Srikshetra in connection with the inauguration of Mysuru Dasara, in the august presence of His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Shivaratri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji.

Addressing the gathering, Sri Abhinava Gavisiddeshwara Swamiji said that India is a land of sages and saints who have made immense contributions to society. Every individual encounters both good and bad experiences in daily life, but it is important to accept the positive aspects of these experiences and learn from them. While individuals may pass away, their words and teachings remain etched in people’s memories.

He emphasised that maintaining a pure mind requires participation in satsang (spiritual association) and listening to words of wisdom. The benefits of satsang remain relevant throughout one’s life, and individuals should make it a practice to listen to good and inspiring words. By keeping away from unwanted thoughts, one can attain peace of mind.

Explaining the nature of the mind, he said that it has no definite form and takes shape according to the thoughts it entertains, just as water assumes the shape of the vessel in which it is contained. He urged people not merely to listen to spiritual discourses but also to put the ideas and values conveyed through them into practice. Only by translating such teachings into action can individuals lead meaningful and purposeful lives.

Blessing the gathering, His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Shivaratri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji expressed happiness over the arrival of Sri Abhinava Gavisiddeshwara Swamiji of Koppal at Suttur Srikshetra. He observed that the Gavi Siddeshwara Math in Koppal had earned international recognition through its religious, social and spiritual contributions.

He further noted that the religious, social and spiritual discourses delivered by Sri Abhinava Gavisiddeshwara Swamiji had received widespread appreciation from people on social media. Devotees who had listened to his discourses had found inspiration to make their lives more meaningful.

Referring to the prominence of the two institutions, Jagadguru Sri Shivaratri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji said that the Suttur Jathra Mahotsava and the Gavi Siddeshwara Jathra Mahotsava of Koppal were renowned across the world. He also highlighted the contributions of both maths in providing free education and samskara (values-based education and cultural upbringing) to thousands of underprivileged children, following the shared commitment of serving society through education and moral development.

The programme was attended by several math heads and dignitaries, including Mysuru District Commissioner Shri G. Lakshmi Kantareddy, Additional Deputy Commissioner Smt. Aishwarya, Additional Regional Commissioner Shri P. Shivaraju and Deputy Director of the Public Library Department Shri Manjunath. Representatives of JSS Mahavidyapeetha, heads of various institutions, devotees from Mysuru, Chamarajanagar and Mandya districts, and others were also present.
