Suttur, September 11, 2026: JSS Higher Primary School, Suttur, has won the Overall Sports Championship at the Hobli-level sports meet held at Suttur after its students secured an impressive 196 points in various games and athletic events.
The sports meet was organised in association with the Department of School Education and Literacy, Nanjangud, and Government Higher Primary School, Nagarle.
In the boys’ team events, JSS Higher Primary School secured first place in Kho-Kho, Kabaddi and Volleyball, and second place in Throwball.
In the girls’ team events, the school secured first place in Kho-Kho and Throwball and second place in Volleyball.
In the boys’ individual events, Beetaraj secured first place in the 100-metre race. Lambasalam secured first place in the 200-metre race, while Raghavendra finished second. John Tho secured first place in the 400-metre race, while Subhash finished second. Appa Vadang won first place in the 600-metre race, followed by Basavaraju in second place.
In the field events, Nansam secured first place in Shot Put, while Yashwanth finished second. Nansam also won first place in Discus Throw. Girish secured first place in Long Jump. In High Jump, Pawang secured second place and Girish finished third.
In the 4×100-metre relay, Beetaraj and his team secured first place, while Sangamesh and his team finished second.
Nansam emerged as the Individual Champion in the boys’ category.
In the girls’ category, Kritika secured first place in the 100-metre race, while Amrita finished second. Hemavati won first place in the 200-metre race. Kritika also secured first place in the 400-metre race. In the 600-metre race, Amrita secured first place, while Thanvita finished second.
In the field events, Hema secured second place in Shot Put, while Pooja won first place in High Jump.
In the 4×100-metre relay, Amrita and her team secured first place, while Kritika and her team finished second.
Abana Lyngdo emerged as the Individual Champion in the girls’ category, securing first place in Shot Put, Discus Throw and High Jump.
The administrators, heads of the institution, Headmaster and teaching staff congratulated the students on their outstanding achievements.
