Nature Is the Real Creator: Prof. H. B. Devanna

Suttur, September 3, 2026: “Nature is the real creator, eternally fresh and endlessly inspiring,” said Prof. H. B. Devanna, while delivering a discourse on the 23rd day of the Shravana Month discourse series at Suttur Srikshetra on September 3.

Speaking on the beauty and profundity of nature, Prof. Devanna said that nature has inspired countless poems across the world and continues to remain the greatest creator. “The poetry created by nature is more beautiful, profound and infinite than the poetry written by human beings. Without using a single word, nature creates some of the finest poetry in the world through its ever-changing sights and sounds,” he observed.

He said that if the tender shoots of spring are nature’s love song, the raindrops of the monsoon sing their own melodies. The moonlight of a full-moon night resembles a peaceful poem, while the mist of winter appears like a mysterious story. The chirping of birds, the gurgling of rivers and the rustling of leaves are all sweet and melodious expressions of nature.

Prof. Devanna further observed that the sunrise in the morning and sunset in the evening are unique works of art painted across the sky every day. A tiny seed grows into a plant and produces a flower; the flower blossoms and eventually withers away. Similarly, a river cuts through mountains and hills, creates lakes, streams and waterfalls along its course, and ultimately merges with the sea. “All these are profound lessons and principles of life that nature teaches mankind,” he said.

During the discourse, Prof. Devanna also spoke about Madiwala Machayya, who came to Kalyana from Hipparagi, drawn by the personality and ideals of Basavanna. He said that Madiwala Machayya was not merely an ordinary person but was regarded as an incarnation of Lord Parameshwara. He narrated how Machayya carried out the duties associated with his community and profession with great devotion, sincerity and dedication, especially in diligently cleaning the belongings entrusted to him.

Smt. Tejashwini and Shri S. Nanjuadaswamy, Shri M. B. Mahadevappa, Smt. D. B. Hemavati and Gov. Shri B. N. Mahesh rendered service during the programme.

The programme commenced with a mass prayer. A large number of devotees and spiritual seekers participated in the discourse.
