A Better Life Matters More Than Mere Earning: Sri H.B. Devanna

Suttur, August 20, 2026: “A person should learn to live a better life rather than making earning the sole purpose of life,” said Sri H.B. Devanna while delivering his discourse on the ninth day of the Shravan month observances at Suttur Srikshetra on August 20.

In his discourse, Sri Devanna said that people today often treat the accumulation of money, property and wealth as the primary goal of life. However, to make life meaningful, one must learn to live without giving excessive importance to material possessions. He observed that by cultivating peace, tranquility, happiness and a spirit of coexistence, people can lead a good and fulfilling life in society.

Illustrating the importance of values through a story, he narrated the life of a poor mother who lived in a village with her two sons. From their childhood, she raised them by teaching moral stories centered on honesty, truth, non-violence, justice and other human values.
