Words of the Wise Are Like Amrit: Sri H.B. Devanna

Suttur, August 18, 2026: “There is amrit in the words of the wise,” said Sri H.B. Devanna while delivering a discourse on the seventh day of the Shravan month observances at Suttur Srikshetra on August 18.

In his discourse, Sri Devanna said that while a father gives us birth, it is the Guru who guides us towards liberation by teaching the fundamental truths of life. He observed that the Supreme Truth can be understood only through the wisdom of enlightened souls.

Referring to traditional poetic descriptions of amrit, he said that poets speak of nectar being present in the waters of the ocean, in the rays of the moon, in the realm of the Nagas and in heaven. However, spiritual commentators explain that true amrit lies in the words of the wise who have realized the divine nature of existence.
