Suttur, November 20, 2025: The ICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Suttur, organized a special programme featuring the live telecast of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s address on the occasion of transferring ₹18,000 crore to farmers as the first instalment under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme, along with the inauguration of the South India Organic Farming Sum-mit–2025, at its premises.
In his introductory address, Dr. B. N. Gnanesh, Head and Senior Scientist, JSS KVK, explained that PM Kisan Samman Nidhi is a Government of India scheme under which an amount of ₹6,000 per year is provided to eligible farmers as minimum annual income support. He informed that this scheme was first introduced in Telangana as the ‘Raitha Bandhu Yojana’ and was later extended across the country by the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare on February 1, 2019. To avail the benefits provided by the Agriculture Department, beneficiary farmers must ob-tain Farmer Identity Cards and link them with their Aadhaar card and bank account. He further emphasized that the amount received under PM Kisan Samman Nidhi should not be diverted for other purposes and must be utilized only for agricultural activities.
As part of the programme, a practical demonstration on agricultural equipment repair was con-ducted by Shri Arun and Shri Shafiulla from SLN Agritech, Mysuru, and representatives from Maruti Krishi Udyog Samsthe, Nelamangala. Shri Chandru and Shri H. D. Ramesh were also pre-sent on the occasion.
Progressive farmer Shri Mahadevu of Kikkeri Village, Hanagodu Hobli, who has been inde-pendently carrying out agricultural implements repair work for the last 10 years, and Shri Manju, a progressive farmer as well as mushroom and sericulture farming expert from Saraguru Village, Biligere Hobli, were felicitated during the programme.
More than 200 farmers, both men and women, along with the staff of JSS KVK, actively partici-pated in the event.
