Field Outreach Highlights Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development under Vikasit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan

Suttur, June 10, 2025: The ICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra, in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture, Mysuru, conducted a series of field visits and information dissemination programs on June 8, 2025, as part of the 10th day of the ongoing Vikasit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan. These programs were held at Jayapura and Daaripura in Mysuru Taluk, and Machabayanahalli in Hunsur Taluk, with the aim of spreading awareness about government schemes and best practices in agriculture and animal husbandry.

During the outreach, Dr. Rakshitraj provided an overview of various schemes launched by the Government of India related to agriculture and animal husbandry. He emphasized the importance of integrated farming practices and the cultivation of nutritious fodder crops to support livestock health.

Dr. Kajal Shankarroy, Chief Scientist at the National Veterinary Food and Shareerakriya Shastra Institute, Bengaluru, delivered a detailed talk on managing infertility in cattle. She highlighted the benefits of using mineral mixtures and hormonal treatments to address reproductive issues in livestock. Dr. Shankarroy also explained how deficiencies affecting milk fat content and quality can be addressed by incorporating nutritional products such as bypass fat and KMF Samruddhi into cattle diets.

Adding further value to the event, Dr. Shivaswamy, Scientist at the National Dairy Research Institute, encouraged farmers to adopt dairy farming alongside traditional agriculture. He stressed that such integrated approaches not only improve farm sustainability but also serve as a viable source of supplementary income for rural households.

The programs witnessed enthusiastic participation from local farmers, who gained valuable insights into scientific practices, government support mechanisms, and entrepreneurial opportunities within the livestock and dairy sectors.
