Bengaluru, May 27, 2021: The Jagadguru Sri Veerasimhasana Mahasamsthana Math, Suttur, has announced to provide free residential education to children who are orphaned due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Paramapujya Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji addressed a press meet in Bengaluru on May 26, 2021. “The Sri Math will adopt the children who have lost both the parents due to the pandemic and provide free education from 1st standard to 10th standard. Free education will also be provided to children hailing from very poor families, children of farmers and daily wage workers. The Sri math will look after all their needs,” he informed.

Free Education at Suttur for children who have lost one of their parents or both

The Covid pandemic has devastated many a life and the worst affected are the children! The second Covid wave has been crueller to the children as scores of families have been wiped out, and thousands of children have beenorphaned. Today we see thousands of children who have lost one of their parents or both. Besides the pandemic also left many families economically shattered with no resources available to support the children beyond basic sustenance and these children will perhaps miss their education which is an important of their growing up and survival. This can change if we all come together and do something about it.

His Holiness Jagadguru Sri ShivarathriDeshikendraMahaswamiji, the spiritual head of Sri Suttur Math and the President of JSS Mahavidyapeetha, Mysuru has pledged to support such children by providing free education and boarding at JSS School, Suttur, Mysuru District, Karnataka, India. The children will be completely supported for their education from class 1 to 10 and will include their living, boarding, medical care, and basic personal needs.

Sri Suttur Math to lend it’s hostels attached to JSS educational institutions for quarantine purposes.

With the huge surge in COVID cases, Sri Suttur Math came forward to provide facilities for the ailing patients by lending their hostels and community halls as quarantine centres. His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Shivaratri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji was speaking with the media after a meeting with District In Charge Minister Sri.ST Somashekar and Sri Pratap Sinha, MP. He also said that, food and house keeping facilities will be arranged from the Suttur Math and JSS Mahavidyapeeta to these centres. The treatment and medicine supply should be taken care by the Government.

Minister Sri ST Somashekar lauded the initiative of Sri Suttur Math and thanked His Holiness for the timely aid.

JSS Hospital being one of the designated COVID hospitals in Mysuru has been constantly in fight against Corona virus with the cutting edge technologies. JSS Hospital to allocate 300 beds to the Government

On account of the sharp rise in the COVID-19 cases, the Mysuru District –In-charge Minister Sri S.T. Somashekar and Sri. Pratap Simha, MP held a meeting with His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji at Sri Suttur Math, Mysuru on 10th May 2021.

Speaking with the media, District-In-Charge Minister Sri ST Somashekar said that the District administration had appealed JSS Hospital to allot 417 beds to the Government to reciprocate to the needs of the rising COVID patients. In response to this, 100 beds have been already given, and His Holiness Mahaswamiji has agreed to facilitate 317 beds including oxygen facilities within a week. Minister Sri. ST Somashekar appreciated the support extended by His Holiness Mahaswamiji and JSS Hospital.
