Performance of Teachers is the Hallmark of NEP 2020: Dr. Nijagal Siddalingaswamy

Mysuru, March 18, 2022: Dr. Nijagal Siddalingaswamy, former Director of AICTE, emphasized the significance of performance in the New Education Policy (NEP) during a state-level Capacity Building Program for Teachers held at JSS College of Arts, Commerce and Science, Mysuru. The program, sponsored by the UGC, aimed to enhance the skills and knowledge of teachers through innovative approaches.

In his keynote address on “Capacity-building of In-service Teachers through Innovative Approaches,” Dr. Siddalingaswamy highlighted the need for teachers to expand their knowledge beyond their respective domains. He encouraged them to leverage educational platforms like SWAYAM and MOOC for continuous learning.

Dr. Siddalingaswamy also discussed various digital resources such as Digital Library, NDL, Digi-Locker, Online, ODL, and emphasized the importance of teachers guiding students in utilizing these resources effectively. He emphasized that teachers are indispensable and should strive to make themselves invaluable in the education system.

The event featured two technical sessions. Prof. G. Venkatesh Kumar, Chairman of DOS in Psychology at the University of Mysore, spoke about the role of teachers as mentors, while Prof. Lancy D’Souza discussed effective classroom management.

The program was presided over by B V Sambashivaiah, CEO of JSS College, and Dr. H.C. Honnappa, Principal, welcomed the gathering. The inauguration was followed by an invocation by Sannidhi of I MSc, and Dr. Kumudini Achchi proposed the vote of thanks, while also serving as the program’s anchor.
