Mysuru, August 16, 2022: Prof. Y.S. Siddegowda, Vice-Chancellor of Tumkur University, emphasized the pivotal role of youth in building a strong nation during his participation in the 75th Independence Day program organized at the JSS College of Arts, Commerce, and Science in Mysuru.

Addressing the gathering, Prof. Siddegowda stated, “The strength of a nation lies in the strength of its youth.” He further highlighted the significance of the 75th Independence Day as an opportune moment to alter perspectives and embrace change. Recognizing India’s emergence as a global superpower, he commended the country’s ability to overcome challenges, including effectively managing the COVID-19 pandemic. Prof. Siddegowda emphasized that good governance, sustainable development, socio-economic progress, and evolving political ideologies are crucial factors determining tangible and intangible growth in these critical times.

He stressed the importance of five core factors – family, parents, youth, society, and nation – in shaping the self-esteem of a society. Prof. Siddegowda called for the infusion of innovation, excellence, and moral education into the present learning system. He encouraged the youth to honor the sacrifices made by great leaders and emphasized that India’s prosperity would only be realized when the youth actively participate in the overall development of society with a sense of gratitude.

Furthermore, Prof. Siddegowda advised students that mere planning without action yields no results. He urged them not to shy away from problems but to confront them with unwavering commitment.

The national flag was hoisted by Prof. B.V. Sambashivaiah, Chief Executive of the college, who presided over the program.

Prof. M P Viyajendra Kumar, Principal of the Degree College, extended a warm welcome to the attendees, while Prof. S.
