Renowned Indian Woman cricketer Rajeshwari Gaekwad visits Suttur Srikshetra

Suttur, Sept. 26, 2020: Indian Woman Cricket team’s renowned player Kum. Rajeshwari Gaekwad, who is also an alumnus of the JSS School, Suttur, visited the Suttur Srikshetra on September 26, 2020, Saturday.
Speaking after receiving the felicitation by the JSS Free Residential School she said, “when I was studying here though I was not much interested in sports I used to play kho-kho due to the demand by my physical instructor. It helped a lot to gain physical fitness. As I utilized this in a proper way I could become a part of the Indian National Woman Cricket team and achieve something.”
“Hailing from a rural background today I could achieve something with the blessings of Pujya Swamiji. I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to JSS Institutions which laid the foundation for this. I am feeling very proud and happy today for visiting the Srikshetra,” she added.
Sri B.R. Rajashekar, Director, Physical Education Department, JSS Educational Institution, Suttur, felicitated her on the occasion. Sri G.L. Tripurantaka explained the students about Rajeshwari Gaekwad’s achievement. Heads of various departments of the institution and staff members were present.

National Nutrition Month Awareness Workshop

Suttur, Sept. 18, 2020: The Government of India has announced September as ‘Nutrition Month’. Efforts are made to create awareness about the importance of nutrition among all the mothers across the country during this month. The objective of this campaign is strengthening nutrition-levels among women and children and eliminating malnutrition.

The ICAR JSS Krishi Vigyan Kendra had organised a programme on September 17, 2020 as part of this campaign, at its centre in Suttur, in association with the IFFCO, Mysuru. Smt. Netravathi Yettinamani, In-house Scientist, JSS KVK, shared information about the food that needs to be consumed to improve nutrition levels, consumption of fruits and vegetables to increase immunity, types of food that prevents anaemia, how to develop and maintain a kitchen garden, etc, with the anganwadi activists.

Sri Shamraj, Farm Scientist, JSS KVK, shared information about the methods of growing vegetables, fruits and greens in a kitchen garden and what manure should be used.

On the occasion, Sri Rafeek P.K., Field Officer, IFFCO distributed seed kits to anganwadi activists.

A total number of 45 people including angawadi activists and JSS KVK staff members were present.
