“World Hearing Day” Highlights at JSS Institute of Speech and Hearing in Mysuru

Mysuru: JSS Institute of Speech and Hearing (JSSISH) joined the global observance of “World Hearing Day” on March 3rd, as declared by the World Health Organization (WHO). The purpose of this annual event is to raise awareness about hearing loss and emphasize the importance of hearing care.

Each year, a specific theme is selected by the WHO, and global campaigns are organized to promote the cause. The theme for the 2020 campaign is “Hearing for life, Don’t let hearing loss limit you.”

To commemorate the occasion, JSSISH conducted a range of activities. A live radio phone-in program was arranged, allowing the general public to seek clarification on speech and hearing impairments. Mrs. Sanjana Singh S, Lecturer at JSSISH, and Mrs. Bilvashree C, Clinical Supervisor at JSSISH, provided expert responses to the queries.

Additionally, a flash mob was organized at the Mall of Mysuru from 5pm to 6pm, aiming to raise public awareness about the importance of hearing and promote the message of the World Health Organization.

On the same day, a cyclothon took place, with the participation of students, teachers, and the general public, cycling to spread the message of World Hearing Day. The cyclothon commenced at the JSS Mahavidyapeeta premises and was flagged off by Sri R. Mahesh, the Director of Medical Education at JSSMVP.

These initiatives by JSSISH exemplify their commitment to promoting hearing health and advocating for individuals with hearing impairments.
