Chemistry Experiments Demonstration at JSS Residential School, Suttur

Suttur, December 5, 2022: The JSS Residential School in Suttur, in collaboration with the Bhramara Trust, Mysuru, organized an engaging chemistry experiments demonstration for its students.

The program was inaugurated by esteemed guest Prof. K.S. Rangappa, former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Mysore. In his address, Prof. Rangappa emphasized the importance of inquisitiveness and encouraged students to develop the skill of asking questions to enhance their knowledge.

Distinguished speakers, Prof. Uday Maitra and Smita Maitra from the Department of Chemistry, Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, conducted a series of captivating chemistry experiments. The demonstrations included chemiluminescence, thermochromism, igniting fire through the absorption of magnesium oxygen from solid carbon dioxide, and experiments showcasing deuterium’s heavier properties compared to water, among others.

The program was presided over by Smt. Madhuri Tatachari. Prominent attendees included coordinating officer Sri G.L. Tripurantaka, Headmasters Sri G. Shivamallu, Sri M.G. Basavanna, Smt. C.P. Nirmala, dedicated teachers, and enthusiastic students.

The chemistry experiments demonstration not only provided an interactive platform for students to explore the fascinating world of chemistry but also sparked their curiosity and ignited a passion for scientific inquiry.
