Unnatha Bharath Abhiyan and Swachchatha Hi Seva programmes launched at Moodahalli

Mysuru, October 2, 2019: The JSS College of Arts, Commerce and Science, Ooty Road, Mysuru, had organized the Ministry of Human Resources sponsored programmes ‘Unnatha Bharath Abhiyan’ and ‘Swachchatha Hi Seva’. Prof. B. V. Sambashivaiah, Chief Executive of the College launched the programme by watering a plant symbolically.
In his address, he explained to the villagers and students about how plastic usage became a part of our lives gradually and its ill-effects. “Plastic usage has led to several diseases among human beings and also is destroying the environment. Hence, we should stop using plastic and try to adopt using cloth material in its place to protect our health and environment. It is the need of the hour. It is also important for each one of us to keep our surroundings clean,” he added.
Prof. D.S. Sadashivamurthy, Principal (Incharge), Sri Shivakumar, GP Officer, Sri Nandeesh Kumar, GP President, Sri Nanjundaswamy, leader of Alathuru village, Smt. Prema, Head Mistress of the school and others called upon the villagers to take part in these programmes actively and make it successful.
Volunteers of the college took out a jatha as part of this programme on the main thoroughfares of the village and also enacted street plays to create awareness among the villagers about the ill-effects of usage of plastic. Plastic covers and bags were collected from them and cloth bags were distributed in its place. These programmes were also held at Alatthuru, Madaiahanahundi, Handinaarumole, Mallarajaianahundi villages.
Earlier, the programme commenced with an invocation by 2nd year BBA student Kum. Jayashri. Third year BA student T.B. Niranjan welcomed and Dr. Kumudini Achchi gave a vote of thanks. Second B.Sc. student Kum. Deepika compered the programme.
Sri N. Santhoshkumar, NCC Officer, teaching staff of the school, leaders of the village and people of five villages took part.
