Oath Taking and Lamp Lighting Ceremony Marks the Commencement of 16th Batch GNM Students at JSS Nursing College, Chamarajanagar

Chamarajanagar, February 27: JSS Nursing College in Chamarajanagar witnessed a momentous occasion as the Lamp Lighting and Oath Taking Ceremony of the 16th batch of General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) students took place on February 26th. The event commenced with a soulful prayer song performed by Kumari Jyothi and her team, setting a serene atmosphere. The College Principal, Sri Vinay Kumar, extended a warm welcome to the esteemed guests and invitees.

The ceremony was inaugurated by the honorable Sri Vinay D. Judge, District Sessions Court, Chamarajanagar. In his address, he emphasized the remarkable service rendered by Florence Nightingale, urging the nursing students to emulate her spirit of dedication and compassion. He urged the students to uphold their profession with utmost respect and maintain the pledge they took on this auspicious occasion.

The Chief Guest, Sri Dr. Sanjeev G.M, Dean and Director of Chamarajanagar Institute of Medical Sciences, addressed the gathering, highlighting the significance of nursing as a noble and disciplined profession. He acknowledged the pivotal role nurses play in healthcare, contributing 70 percent of the treatment and care to patients. Dr. Sanjeev also spoke about the promising employment opportunities in the nursing field and commended the excellent functioning of JSS Nursing College. He encouraged the students to make the most of the facilities and resources provided by the institution.

Dr. Ravi M.C, District Health and Family Welfare, advised the students to exhibit calmness and empathy while interacting with patients, emphasizing the strong bond between nurses and those under their care.

Srimati Latha S., from the Primary Health Center and recipient of the Florence Nightingale Award 2019, shared her valuable insights with the students, urging them to work towards the betterment of others.

The Lamp Lighting ceremony was conducted by Srimathi Latha S. and Srimathi Sandhya Shree, Nursing Tutors, symbolizing the illumination of knowledge and the beginning of a new journey for the students. The oath was administered to the students by Institution Principal, Sri Vinay Kumar G.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to all those who contributed to the success of the event.
