Level of Award: Diploma by the Board of Technical Examination, Government of  Karnataka.

Duration of the Course: Six semesters ( 3 years).

Admission Criteria: Pass in Karnataka SSLC or its equivalent and as per the rules of the Karnataka Government.

Placement and Training
A placement and training cell is set up to provide placement and training services for the successful outgoing candidates of the polytechnic. The cell has established contacts with various industries. Campus interviews are arranged for the selection of outgoing candidates. This centre also arranges programmes on Career Guidance, Entrepreneurship awareness, etc., to assist the students in preparing for the tests, interviews or self-employment.

Library and Information Centre
The centre is equipped with over 11,500 volumes covering all branches of Science and Engineering. It has adopted an open access system and maintains author, title, subject and series catalogues to provide multiple accesses to the stack.

Library Resources
The Library Resources include a good collection of prescribed textbooks, recommended books, reference books like Dictionaries, Hand Books, Data Books etc., It also has a fairly good collection of IS specifications, Project Reports.

Borrowing Facilities
The lending of Books to members is made against borrower’s cards. Students are allowed to borrow two books for a fortnight, and the books have to be returned before the due date, failing which overdue charges are levied.

Computer Centre
A Computer centre with modern computer facility is provided with an internet connection. The computer centre has access to all the departments of the Polytechnic.

Electronics labs have been established with advanced electronic equipment and tools. Electrical and mechatronics labs and workshop facilities are provided as per the needs of the revised curriculum.

Health Centre
A healthcare unit has been provided in the campus with a qualified physician. The centre is provided with the necessary facility and medicines. The centre works between 10-00 AM to 2-00 PM on all working days and is situated in the Polytechnic for the Differently-Abled building.

Hostel Facility
The Polytechnic has a separate hostel facility for boys in its adjacent building. The hostels run a mess, with a modern kitchen to ensure adequate hygiene. The allotment of the seats for the hostel is done based on the needs of the candidates.

General Discipline
The students shall be governed by the disciplinary rules framed by the management from time to time. Any student not obeying these rules shall be expelled from the Polytechnic.

Irregular attendance, indifference showed towards homework, or sessional work or undesirable conduct of any sort on the part of the student during his stay in Polytechnic will entail immediate punishment by the authorities which may even extend to expulsion depending on the gravity of the misconduct.

Ragging in any form is strictly prohibited in the Polytechnic and hostel.

JSS Polytechnic, Mysore was set up in 1986 to provide technical education and expertise for those who want to set up their own business. The institute is established in a 15-acre area on the SJCE campus and is well-equipped with modern workshops and best-in-class facilities. The Polytechnic offers Diploma courses in Computer Science, Electronics and Communications, Mechanical Engineering, Commercial Practice, Information Science and Engineering, Mechatronics and Electrical Engineering. The Karnataka government and the AICTE, New Delhi, have approved these courses. Besides, job-oriented courses are also taught here.

Accessibility

State transport buses ply through the campus at frequencies of less than 20 minutes linking almost all the major residential areas, the central city bus stand and the Railway station with the campus. The campus is accessible by several bus routes such as 129,130, 135, 72, and 253.
