About JSS Medical College:
JSS Medical College, Mysuru, was started in the year 1984-85 for imparting education in medical sciences. The Medical Council of India recognizes the college. Earlier, in 1995-96, it was affiliated to the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bengaluru, Karnataka. Since 28-05-2008, it became a constituent college of JSSAHER (Established under Section-3 of UGC Act).
The college has a beautiful campus in a sprawling 43-acre land at Sri Shivarathreeshwara Nagara, Mysuru. The city is about 140 km from Bengaluru.
Accreditations and Recognitions:
Medical Council of India recognizes the graduate and post-graduate programs offered by JSS Medical College, Mysuru. Further, the General Medical Council (UK), Sri Lanka Medical Council, and WHO recognizes these courses. In addition to this, Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, UK, recognizes the institution for the award of MRCOG. JSS Hospital and Medical College, Mysuru has been granted accreditation by the National Accreditation Board for Hospital and Health Care Providers (NABH). DSIR approves JSS Medical College Mysuru as a research faculty. Also, the Karnataka Vision Group of Science & Technology and FIST, DST recognizes the Medical College as Centre for Excellence in Molecular Biology & Regenerative Medicine.
The Medical College offers an undergraduate course in medicine (MBBS), a Postgraduate degree (M.D./M.S.) and diploma programmes in 20 medical disciplines. The annual intake of the MBBS programme is 200. Furthermore, the college offers Programs in Bio-Medical Sciences, Masters program in Public health and M.Sc. in Psycho-Social Rehabilitation. The institution offers programs which are a sophisticated blend of community-oriented, problem-based learning with high-quality clinical reasoning. Also, the college provides M.Sc./Ph.D. and M.D./Ph.D. programmes in subjects such as Physiology, Anatomy, etc. The institution encourages research in basic medical sciences subjects.
The institution undertakes many research studies that have an impact in the area of management of diseases. Some of the thrust areas in which the institution actively pursues research are Cancer Biology, Stem Cells Therapy, Cancer Drug Discovery and Pharmacogenomics, Identification of Therapeutic Targets for Diabetes Mellitus, etc.

JSS Hospital, Mysore, is one of the biggest hospitals in the country. The hospital has a 1800 beds for inpatients and treats about 800 to 1000 outpatients every day. It serves as a teaching hospital to JSS Medical College.
