Physiotherapy is a field which provides information about human body mechanics in a normal & abnormal state of health. It involves the evaluation and treatment of numerous physical conditions affecting all age groups and aims at restoring normal movements, function, relieves pain, prevents illness and injury.

Physiotherapy as a profession has its role in various disciplines like Orthopedics, Neurology, Pediatrics, Sports Medicine, Cardiorespiratory conditions, General Surgery, and Community Based Rehabilitation.
Scope of Physiotherapy
Physiotherapists have a wide range of opportunities to work in India and abroad. There are various openings in hospitals, outpatient clinics, nursing homes, fitness club, sports team, government, and nongovernment organizations.
Physiotherapists are an integral part of the rehabilitation team comprising of physicians, social workers, occupational therapists, nurses, vocational counselors, psychologists, prosthetists, and Orthotists.
What do Physiotherapists do?
Physiotherapists help patients to overcome a particular problem by educating them about the problem and how to prevent the recurrence of the same. This is achieved by a thorough assessment, which may include tests of muscle strength, joint motion, sensory and neurological functions, coordination, balance, flexibility, postural screening, movement analysis, and other evaluations.
Based on the evaluation a treatment plan is drawn up. It may comprise of instrumental or non-instrumental intervention. In the field of physiotherapy, there are various hands-on techniques that include soft tissue mobilization and joint mobilization skills to reduce pain, increase joint motion and soft tissue flexibility. Therapeutic exercises will help to restore strength, movement, balance & coordination and finally to a complete functional recovery.
A physiotherapist reviews the conditions and monitors the progress to aid recovery.
