Jagadguru Sri Dr Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamjigalavaru, the 23rd pontiff of Sri Suttur Veerasimhasana Math was the architect and founder president of JSS Mahavidyapeetha, which came into being in 1954. With the divine inspiration of Sri Swamiji, the JSS College of Pharmacy was started in the year 1973 in Mysuru.
JSS College of Pharmacy is a constituent college of JSS University, Mysore. JSS University is recognized by Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India on 28th May 2008 and has declared Jagadguru Sri Shivarathreeshwara University (JSSU), Mysore, Karnataka, as deemed. The college offers a comprehensive package of pharmacy education and training opportunities beginning with the Diploma in Pharmacy (D.Pharm), B.Pharm (Practice), Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm), Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.), Master of Pharmacy (M.Pharm) and Doctoral (PhD) programs, Residency Programme in Oncology & Nephrology. Postgraduate diploma and certificate courses are also offered to the students as an add-on to the regular programs. The college houses some of the nation`s recognized researchers and educates some of the brightest students nationally and internationally. The college has a Drug Testing Laboratory which is approved by Govt. of Karnataka and is NABL accreditated. The institute is a renowned leader in pharmaceutical education, research and practice. This benchmarking has been recognized nationally in the form of accreditation by National Board of Accreditation (NBA), India. As a part of global recognition, the Pharm.D. Program has been certified by Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), USA. It is presently ranked as top 10 pharmacy college in the country (by NIRF, MHRD, Govt. of India). The college has active Training and Placement Cell which conducts campus drive annually. A large pool of Pharmaceutical Companies, Research Organisations participate in this drive.
