Among the several institutes founded by Jagadguru Dr Sri Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamiji, to educate the masses, the JSS Basic Training Institute, is one of the oldest and most important institutes. Here the students are being trained in the manufacturing of handmade paper, spinning, soap manufacturing, etc. In light of the changed educational policy and environment, JSSMVP realized the need for good teachers and decided to take up teachers training. As a result, three teacher training institutes were opened, making teaching education easily accessible to rural students.

Along with this, a Nursery School Teachers’ Training Institute at Mysuru, and a Teacher Training Institute at Bengaluru, training centre for teachers to work with differently-abled children are established. As both Central and State Governments’ are giving higher priority to primary education, JSSMVP also is gearing up to meet the demand by establishing three teacher training institutes at Yelandur, Sakleshpur, and Hovinahadagali in 2004.

Physical education is part of holistic education policy. To support this, JSSMVP established a Physical Education College, in Suttur. This institute is consistently producing quality PE teachers and is making a significant contribution towards improving the quality of physical education in the state.

Although thousands of talented youth aspire to take up Central Administrative Services (IAS, IPS, etc.) examinations, they hesitate to do so for various reasons. Financial reasons constrain especially youth from rural areas. It was one of the greatest dreams of Jagadguru Dr Sri Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamiji to attract rural graduates to take up these competitive examinations, encourage and prepare them. According to his wish, the JSS Training Institute for Competitive Examinations was established in Bengaluru, in the year 1990-91.

The uniqueness of this institute is that it provides training, without any discrimination on the grounds of religion, caste or languages, to every student who aspires to appear for the Central and State Public Service Commission examinations, Reserve Bank and other National and State-level competitive examinations. The institute has all the necessary amenities to support the students. It has an excellent library to help the students in their studies, guidance from experienced professors and administrators, through regular lectures, discussions and periodical assessments, etc., Admission to the institute is made through a strict two-level screening for the candidates to prove their academic excellence. Also, candidates belonging to scheduled castes and tribes and backward classes are selected and trained with the support of the Social Welfare Department, Government of Karnataka.

After 1995-96, the training institute has made several noteworthy achievements. Over 200 candidates who were trained by this institute are now serving in various capacities with the Central & State Governments. Several candidates have cleared GATE and other national level competitive examinations, for Admission to reputed national technical institutions. For those who successfully clear written national and state public service exams, training is given for personality test and techniques to prepare for the interview.
