JSS Ayurvedic Medical College, Mysore
Ayurveda, the ancient diagnostic and treatment method of India is becoming increasingly popular in recent times. A well-equipped college to train students in this system was started in 1996-97 by JSSMVP. It is recognized by Indian Medical Council and Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences. It has an intake of 50 students for BAMS course and 13 students for postgraduate courses (Rasashastra -04, Dravyaguna 04 and Panchakarma-05).
The college was shifted to a new college building having an area of 75,000 sq. ft., located on Lalithadri Road, in Alanahalli Layout of Mysuru city. The college has 41 teaching and 26 non-teaching staff and 200 students (39 boys and 161 girls), studying in various semesters during the year under report. The college conducted four CME workshops and 24 medical camps, which benefitted 3,655 people. A sum of Rs.248.38 lakhs recurring expenditure and Rs. 57.84 lakhs non-recurring expenditure were incurred.
The new building was inaugurated by Sri Swami Baba Ramdev, Divya Yoga Mandira, Haridwar, and Sri Sadguru Jaggi Vasudev, Esha Foundation, Coimbatore, in the gracious presence of His Holiness Sri Shivaratri Deshikendra Swamiji.
The Rasashastra Postgraduate Division of the College had organized a two-day workshop titled ‘Arogya Vardhini-2012′ on 10th and 11th of March 2012. It was inaugurated by Sri S. A. Ramdas, then Minister for Health, Govt. of Karnataka
