JSS College for Women, Chamarajanagara offers a bachelor’s degree in Arts, Commerce and Science. The college was established in 1967. For more than 49 years, with the blessings of His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji and constant support of the management, as well as the dedicated efforts of the teaching and the non-teaching staff, the college is making commendable progress on several fronts. University of Mysore, UGC, State and Central Governments are also rendering their constant support for the college to function well in all spheres. It is a multi-faculty, Grant-in-aid College, affiliated to the University of Mysore, and recognized by the UGC under 2(f) & 12(B) of UGC Act, and the Government of Karnataka.

Background

In earlier days, getting a higher education was a distant dream to the socially and economically backward people of Chamarajanagara and nearby villages. No educational institution was offering higher education at an affordable cost in the surrounding areas, hence, JSSMVP started an undergraduate institution to provide the talented younger generation of this underdeveloped region with quality education. In the beginning, the college was offering only B.Sc course with the combinations PCM and CBZ. In the later years, B.A and B.Com courses were also introduced. This led to the expansion of the college building, teaching and non-teaching staff, library, physical education and other infrastructure facilities. Today our college is one of the leading colleges in the newly formed Chamarajanagara district.
