Money Can’t Buy Health, Emphasizes Sri Siddeshwara Swamiji

Suttur, April 29, 2019: Sri Siddeshwara Swamiji highlighted the significance of healthy thoughts and disciplined living in maintaining good health and vitality, emphasizing that money alone cannot buy health or youth.

The occasion was a special program held at JSS Hiriyara Mane (JSS Elder’s Home) in Suttur to celebrate the 100th birthday of Sri K.M. Tammaiah, one of the esteemed inmates. Sri Siddeshwara Swamiji expressed, “Greed robs a person of both health and age. Birds and animals lead contented lives amidst nature’s embrace, while it is unfortunate that humans, burdened by thoughts of the past and future, often miss out on the present-day happiness. Paramapujya Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji has created a haven for senior citizens at JSS Hiriyara Mane in Suttur, where the inmates can spend their lives in blissful harmony.”

Paramapujya Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji blessed the gathering, remarking on the tendency of individuals to neglect their parents during their youth, only to desire care from their own children in their old age. However, the reality often disappoints, leading to unfulfilled expectations. He emphasized the importance of finding happiness in the present moment and controlling desires for true contentment.

Centenarian Sri K.M. Tammaiah, who received blessings from the revered Gurus, shared his experiences as a politician and his selfless service to society. Recalling his association with esteemed political figures such as Sri Nijalingappa, Sri Veerendra Patil, and Sri Ramakrishna Hegde, he expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve without expecting anything in return.

Other inmates of JSS Hiriyara Mane, including Sri Madegowda, Sri Krishnamurthy, and Sri K. Venkateshwara, shared their thoughts and opinions about the centenarian. Dr. K. Mahadev, a family friend and former Syndicate Member, provided insights into Sri K.M. Tammaiah’s selfless contributions.

The event was attended by the inmates of JSS Old Age Home in Aravindanagar, Mysuru, along with Sri Dayanand Patil, son of Sri K.M. Tammaiah, and several relatives.

Commencing with an invocation by children from Meghalaya State, who are studying at JSS Free Residential School in Suttur, the program also featured a warm welcome by Smt. C.P. Nirmala. Sri Yogesh expressed gratitude with a vote of thanks, while Sri G.L. Tripuranta skillfully compered the event.
