Mahashivarathri Celebrations Held in Suttur

Suttur, Mar. 11, 2021: The auspicious occasion of Mahashivarathri was celebrated with great fervor and devotion at the Suttur Srikshetra, under the divine presence of Parampujya Jagadguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji.

The day was marked by special poojas and a series of programs held at various temples within the Suttur Srikshetra. At the shrine of Adijagadguru Sri Shivarathreeshwara Shivayogi Mahaswamiji, special poojas were conducted, invoking divine blessings. Additionally, Rudrabhisheka, Ashtottara, and other poojas were performed at the temples of Sri Mahadeshwara, Sri Someshwara, Sri Veerabhadreshwara, and Sri Narayanaswamy.

The festivities were adorned with cultural devotional programs presented by the students of JSS Residential School, Suttur. The Raghuleela Sangeetha Mandira artists enthralled the audience with a mesmerizing music and dance ballet titled ‘Bhakti Sankeertana.’ The music teachers of the Residential School showcased their talent with a soul-stirring vachana recital program. Smt. Indumati Salimath and the team from Kalaburagi captivated the audience with their ‘Jeevanotsaha’ program. The devotional songs program was presented by Sri Gurutshantappa and his team from Suttur, while the Bhajana teams from Banahalli, Bhogayyanahundi, Hosahalli, Chunchanahalli, and Horalawadi mesmerized the devotees with an enchanting ‘Akhanda Bhajan’ program.

A significant highlight of the celebrations was the initiation of Shivadeeksha for 80 disciples, symbolizing their deep devotion and commitment to Lord Shiva. The grandeur of the event was further amplified by the participation of hundreds of devotees from Suttur and the surrounding villages, who actively engaged in the programs and even witnessed the captivating silver chariot procession.

The Mahashivarathri celebrations at Suttur Srikshetra not only showcased the religious significance of the festival but also served as a platform to unite devotees in a collective expression of faith and devotion.
