Suttur, Jan. 17, 2021: “How a couple lives after the wedding is more important than how they get married,” opined His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Shivarthri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji.
He participated in the monthly mass marriage program organised by the Sutturu Srimath, on Sunday. In his blessings, he said, “it is a coincidence that 21 couples are tying the knot today in the first month of the new year. It is a good sign. In Indian culture, weddings have a cultural frame. A man should live as society likes. Couples should understand each other and lead a peaceful life. Rather than being just rich, a man should possess a mindset of sharing his wealth with others, and for others’ welfare. Smt. S.R. Gayathri, of Mysuru, is one such human being with a good heart. She has donated essential things to the newly wedded couples in this mass marriage program. The government is also contributing to the mass marriage programs conducted here. The real purpose of this mass marriage program is saving your money and preventing inessential expenses,” he explained.
In his introductory speech, Udigala Kumaraswamy explained that the mass marriage program, which was supposed to be held during the 2021 Suttur Jatra Mahotsav couldn’t be arranged due to the COVID-19 pandemic and hence only the monthly mass marriage programs are being held in Sutturu. “Mangalya, saree, toe ring, shirt, dhoti, and vallis are being given to the couples free of cost as usual by the Srimath. People should make good use of it,” he said.
Sri Ishaprasada Swamiji of Jnanayogashrama of Vijayapura gave the pledge to the newly wedded couples. Smt. Lakshmi, daughter of one of the donors Smt. Gayathri, Sri Mahadevaswamy, Joint Director, Technical Education Division, JSS Mahavidyapeetha, and Duggahatti Sri P. Veerbhadrappa also spoke on the occasion and advised the public to utilize the benefits of the mass marriage program conducted by Sri Suttur Math.
Sri Jayarajendra, Sri Alamatti Rudramuniswamy, Sri S. Shivakumaraswamy, Sri S.P. Udayashankar, Rajanna, Heads of JSS Institution, and relatives of the newly wedded couples were present.
Music teachers of the JSS Residential School gave an invocation, Duggatti Sri V. Mallikarjunaswamy welcomed and Kanya Shivamurthy gave a vote of thanks. G. L. Tripurantaka compered the programme.
