Suttur, November 23, 2020: Children’s Day and Kannada Rajyotsava celebrations were held at the JSS Educational Institution in Suttur, on November 21, 2020.
Speaking on the occasion, Sri N.P. Parashivamurthy explained about the contributions of various freedom fighters and litterateurs like Aluru Venkataraya and Aa.Na.Kru, who strove for formation of Karnataka State. He mentioned about AKKA celebrations held in USA and the problems faced by border districts of the state. He expressed his gratitude and salutations to Ramamurthy, creator of Kannada State flag. Mentioning National poet Kuvempu’s lines ‘Kannadakkagi Kai Yettu, Adu Kalpavrukshavaaguvudu’, he called upon the youngsters to serve for the cause of Kannada and Karnataka. He also mentioned renowned poet ‘Aa.Na.Kru’s line ‘Kannadakkagi Nannantaha Halavriddare, Aadre Nanage Kannada Onde’ (There are so many people like me for Kannada, but for me Kannada is all). He also called upon everyone to use Kannada while conversing in daily lives. Referring lines from a few poems written by renowned poet G.P. Rajatnam he explained about the love people have for Kannada. “Kannada is the queen of world scripts” and it is the pride of Kannadigas according to Vinobha Bhave,” he said. He also mentioned a few incidents in the lives of great poets like Tarasu and Bendre and the science behind formation of Kannada alphabets.
On the occasion he also spoke about how children’s day came into existence that falls on India’s first Prime Minister Jawharlal Nehru’s birthday. “I pray god to stop prevent corona as soon as possible and give us opportunity to celebrate children’s day along with children, in a more meaningful way in the coming year,” he added.
Heads of various departments of the school Sri G.L. Tripurantaka, Sri P. Sampath, Sri Veerabhadraiah, Sri S. Shivaswamy, Smt. C.P. Nirmala, Sri K. Venkateshwararo, Sri B.M. Siddappa, Sri G.M. Shadakshari and Sri Mahadevaprasad were present.
Earlier the programme commenced with an invocation by Sri Kempanna. Sri Mahesh welcomed and Kumari Asha gave an invocation. Sri Guruprasad compered the programme.
