Mysuru, Mar. 18, 2017: “The country will progress and youth will be empowered when they won’t depend upon the government any more and find ways for self-dependent lives,” opined B. Shivashankar, CEO, Zilla Panchayat, Mysuru.
He participated in a workshop on ‘Career in Social Work”, organised by the Post Graduate Department of Social Work, JSS Arts, Commerce and Science College, B. N. Road, Mysuru, held at the Golden Jubilee Auditorium, in the College premises on March 18, 2017.
In his inaugural address B. Shivashankar expressed his view that, instead of providing food as per requirement, the government should build capacity among the people to produce their own food. To achieve this there is a need to organise the community through team building activity.
Appreciating the efforts of the College in organising the workshop he opined qualitative professionals can be expected in the future through more such workshops.
College Chief Executive Prof. B. V. Sambashivaiah in his presidential address spoke about the importance of professional life. “The path of a successful professional life doesn’t come easily. You can achieve a successful professional life only through meticulous planning and little bit of luck. Professional lives are based on knowledge. Hence, a person should be completely aware about his requirements. He should also identify and utilize all the opportunities that he gets, as per his educational qualification and efficiency. Only then your lives will be smooth and you can attain self-satisfaction,” he added.
Dr. B. Jagadish, trainer at Toyota Kirloskar Co., Bidadi, participated in the workshop as the resource person. He explained in detail about the traditionally available job opportunities and job opportunities that have emerged due to new changes. He also informed about the various skills that are essential for a social worker to select a suitable and successful profession.
Degree College Principal Prof. Mahadevappa welcomed. Social Work Department students Kum. Chaitra gave an invocation and Rajashekar compered. Head of Department, Department of Social Work Dr. M. P. Somashekar, lecturers and more than 100 students from various colleges across the State were present.
