Teachers Day observed at JSS School, Suttur
Suttur, Sept. 8, 2018: “What teachers do is not just work, but it is a noble service. Hence, if a teacher is idealistic, the whole society will respect him. Any society which fails to understand the significance of teachers will degenerate,” opined Sri R. Raghunandan, Senior Programme Officer, Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, Office of the Education Commissioner, Bengaluru.
He participated in a programme organised at the JSS Educational Institution in Suttur, on the occasion of the Teachers Day. Addressing the students on occasion he observed, “A teacher can lay a good foundation to build a good society. In Germany, teachers are paid more than engineers and doctors. The intelligence of Indian students is higher than any other students in the entire world. In India we consider ‘home’ as the first school and ‘mother’ as the first teacher.”
The chief guest of the programme, Sri K. Mahadevappa, Principal, DIET and Director, Development Division, Mysuru, said, “a teacher is like a candle, he will himself melt and give light to all. There is no end for learning, it is continuous.”
Recalling Alexander’s quote, “while my parents gave birth to me, my teacher helped me to grow,” he said that teachers should have dedication and added that they should study and help their students reach their goal.
In his introductory speech, Sri C. S. Shivaswamy, Principal, JSS DEd College, said, “today the society expects a lot from teachers and also respects them a lot. Hence, the responsibility of the teachers has increased.”
