Kollegal, September 27, 2018: “As the citizens of this country, it is the duty of all of us to join hands for the ‘Swachch Bharath’ Campaign, which was the dream of Mahatma Gandhi,” opined Prof. Umesh, Principal, JSS Women’s College, Kollegal.

He addressed the students after launching the cleanliness drive held at the JSS Women’s College Hostel, in Kollegal, organised as part of the 150th Gandhi Jayanthi celebration that falls on October 2, 2018.

“In Japan, everybody gives utmost prominence for cleanliness and hygiene. It is one of the main reason for the development of that country. Cleanliness gives us health and hygiene. Thus, Japan is a good example for us to learn that a nation becomes developed and stronger if the citizens have good health. Like in Japan, cleanliness should be included in our school syllabus. The inclusion of subjects on cleanliness, health, yoga, sports, culture and other extra-curricular activities leads to perfect personality evolution of the students. The educational experts and the government should think about this,” he said.

On the occasion, he called upon the girl students of the hostel to involve in the cleanliness campaign wholeheartedly and keep their rooms and the hostel premises clean always. “It helps in keeping your mind fresh and concentrate more on studies,” he added.

Hostel warden Smt. Maheshwari, Geography Department Assistant Lecturer Smt. Smitha and students took part in the cleanliness drive.
