Sri Jayachamarajendra College Of Engineering, established in 1963, is the dream child of Jagadguru Dr. Sri Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamigalavaru, the 23rd pontiff of Sri Suttur Mutt. It comes under the aegis of JSS Mahavidyapeetha, which is the primary institution of many such institutions. The Institution serves as one of the major landmarks of the western part of mysore, with its sprawling 117 acres of campus and several recognizable buildings. As one of the leading institutes in India, SJCE has been recognized under the Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme(TEQIP), which is a world bank associated scheme and has been granted a generous and sumptuous Rs.20 crores in Phase I and Rs. 12.5 crores in Phase II.

Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering (SJCE), has had a very successful and glorious first 50 years of its existence and look forward to exciting years ahead. It has grown from an Engineering College housing just 3 departments in 1963 to a leading Indian Engineering College with an International reputation par excellence offering 12 undergraduate programs and 16 post graduate programs.This College has today blossomed into the second leading institute with a strong reputation in the state, with 5000 students, studying 26 courses, including M.Sc. Engineering by research and Doctoral programs.

Acknowledging the state of the art infrastructural facilities, faculties and expertise, that have been the hallmarks of the college, the Visvesvaraya Technological University has conferred Autonomous status to the college from the year 2007-08.

SJCE is one amongst the 48 proud global partners of PACE (Partnership for Advancement of Collaborative Engineering Education) Program, an initiative of General Motors. Our students have won first/second positions in the annual global PACE competitions held world over for their innovative projects in three consecutive years.

SJCE is the first college in Karnataka to introduce Electronics and Communication branch of engineering in the year 1968. With an intention of covering various aspects of technical activities, college has pioneered various branches of engineering like Instrumentation Technology, Computer Science, Polymer Science & Technology, Environmental Engineering, etc., and giving opportunities to students to serve the society in various socially relevant areas.

SJCE works closely with community involving students in socially relevant projects like community water supply, employment for rural youths, etc. Through Consultancy center, it is providing consultancy services in the field of Engineering Design, Management, Technical Education, Capacity Building, Science & Technology and Health education. It is also reaching rural wards through its community polytechnic scheme by conducting short term courses in science, technology and skill development and encourages self employment.

College is participating through its various departments in vital scientific research, using modern facilities and technologies with a focus for preparing technological leaders for the future. The reputation of the institution for academic excellence in professionally oriented programmes attracts students from across the country and the world. The strength of this educational organization is backed by a very active placement and training centre, with a highly skilled outgoing students sought by top notch industries for employment.

The Industry-Institute Partnership Cell (IIPC) of the college is a dedicated cell to promote the close interaction of industry and various departments of the institute. The IIP Cell facilitates consultancy, sponsored R&D projects and industrial and academic training.

The cell enables people and industries in particular to interact for training, testing and research activities in the college’s departments. Some of the major industry-institute interaction projects are: General Motors, Hewlett Packard and Ford, Schneider Electric, Bosch Rexroth, Analog Devices and Philips India Ltd.

Library and Information Centre being one of the very important organs of the system, is the centre of all activities on the Campus.The Library is equipped with over 96,538 volumes covering all branches of Science and Engineering, Encyclopedias, Dictionaries, Hand Books, Data Books etc.It has adopted open access system and maintains OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue) to access the stack. Library and Reference section consists of text books, rare books, reference books, yearbooks, dictionaries, encyclopedias, M.Tech, Ph.D thesis, exam material and novels, etc. Student can also get books/journals and CD/DVDs for Competitive Exams like IAS, IPS, GRE, TOEFL, GATE, etc. Library is subscribing over 330 print versions of technical journals covering both National & International, published by Emerald, IEEE, ASCE, ASME, Springer, Elsevier, etc.

Placement and Training department took initiative to provide adequate training to students to enable them to have better employability skills compared to other colleges.There are lot of initiatives from companies in providing full time internship to our P.G. students in the final year itself. These internships after their performance over six months / one year would be converted to full time employment. Most coveted internship the selection for which was multi-level will have tough competition from various colleges across India.

The placement department arranges campus interviews from various national and multi-national companies for campus recruitment and also helps various Head of Departments in placing the students for project work at industries and other research & development organizations. The placement centre has an impressive track record of both placements and participating industries. Besides this, the placement centre organises mock interviews, personality development courses, seminars, group discussions, invited talks and road shows of prospective employers. Skill tests are also conducted to prepare the students for tests and interviews.

JSS Academy of Technical Education(JSSATE), Bangalore

The Academy was established in 1997. Here, 6 courses are being run. The college has its own building, sophisticated laboratories and library.
A Science and Technology Entrepreneurs Park (STEP) is established in the college. Together with the Karnataka Government’s ASIDE project, Dassault Systems from France and with the cooperation of the Jewellery Manufacturers’ Association, an ‘Advanced Jewellery Design Technology Centre’ has been set up in the college. Here, using the latest computer software like CATIA and JEWELCAD, modern jewellery designs are being developed. Using modern technology, the Centre is giving training to traditional jewellery makers in modern jewellery design and manufacturing. A Rapid Prototype machine that makes models of new designs is also installed at the Centre.
A total of 2,086 students (1,481 boys and 605 girls) were studying in the degree courses and 189 students (120 boys and 69 girls) were pursuing postgraduate courses. This is an unaided college. Recurring expenditure of the college was Rs. 1,150 lakhs and the non-recurring expenditure was Rs. 173 lakhs.

JSS Academy of Technical Education (JSSATE), NOIDA

The College was started in 1998 on a 9 acre land in NOIDA, UP, near New Delhi. The college offers 7 graduate courses and MCA/MBA course. In addition, it also serves as a centre for running BCA and BBA courses for Gurugobind Singh Indraprastha University. The College has its own building and state-of-the-art laboratory and library.

A Science & Technology Entrepreneurs Park was established in the campus to provide incubation facilities for engineering graduates for self employment. In addition, with aid from the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, an IT Incubator Centre has also been established. Through this Centre, all facilities are provided to engineering graduates for self employment. With cooperation from the Government of France and Dassault Systems Company, Product Life Cycle Management Competency Centre (PLMCC) has been set up. The Centre uses state-of-the-art design and full scale CATIA technology for developing new designs. Course material is developed here for designing several training programmes that use different dimensions of CATIA.

The staff is also involved in national and international workshops and consultancy.
Through e-learning mode, a PG diploma course on Health Care Management has been started, with enrolment of 118 students (74 boys and 44 girls) were enrolled for the course. There are 17 teaching and 08 non-teaching staff in the college. Recurring expenditure was Rs. 176.18 lakhs and non-recurring expenditure was Rs. 192.59 lakhs during the year under report.

JSS Academy of Technical Education, Mauritius

JSS Academy of Technical Education was established in Mauritius in 2002. 26 teaching and 16 non-teaching staff were working and 237 students (199 boys and 38 girls) were studying at the academy during the year under report. The academy had a recurring expenditure of Rs. 953 lakhs and a non-recurring expenditure of Rs. 156 lakhs

The management college was started in the SJCE Campus in the year 1998. The College offers Postgraduation classes in Management and MBA degree is awarded through the Visveswaraiah Technical University. During this academic year, 120 students (78 boys and 42 girls) were studying.
The staff is also involved in national and international workshops and consultancy.
