Spiritual discourses make people humble – MLC C. M. Lingappa

Suttur, July 25, 2017: Member of Legislative Council Sri C. M. Lingappa inaugurated a discourse on ‘Veerashaivamrutha Purana’, authored by Gubbi Mallannarya, on the occasion of the beginning of ‘Shravana Maasa’, at the Suttur Srimath in Suttur.

“Spiritual discourses makes a person humble and cultivates positive thinking habits. It helps us develop a good personality. By participating in such discourses we get an opportunity to see and understand what is a guru. Everybody should try to see God in the work that they do,” he said.

Sri Gowrishankara Swamiji of Sri Bettada Math of Madgaaralingayyanahundi in his discourse opined that spiritual discourses are capable of transforming the youth and inspire them to take the right path in their lives. “Our society will develop when people start adopting principles of humanity and implement them in thier lives. We should quit selfishness. Even if they are small deeds, we should not hesitate to do good. The Suttur Math has been orgnaising thousands of programmes for welfare of human kind and upliftment of all the religions. Such spiritual or religious discourses are essential for human beings to wipe out the darkness of the mind,” he added. He advised the students to follow the principles of Basava and other Sharanas in order to make their lives meaningful.

Chief Guest Tahasildar Sri M. Dayanand opined that the traditions of the Suttur Srimath are of very high values. He appreciated the Srimath for imparting good education and discipline provided to the students in the school. He also lauded the efforts of JSS MVP in running such a huge school without any drawbacks or complaints. “The employees of JSS group won’t work for salary. Instead they work with devotion and honesty towards the society. These are the reasons in running such big institutions successfully. Students studying here are very fortunate. The teaching and discourses will make them reach higher positions in their lives. You should all follow the ideals of the Srimath,” he advised the students.

Prof. H. B. Devanna, Retd. Principal, gave a discourse on ‘Veerashaivamrutha Purana’ and Sri D. S. Siddalingaswamy recited poems. Retd. Professor Dr. C. G. Ushadevi and Mysuru Akashavani artists Smt. Shyla Siddaramappa were present on the dias.

Earlier the programme commenced with an invocation by JSS school children. Teachers Sri Chandramouleshwara welcomed, Sri M. Paramesh gave a vote of thanks. Sri Anandaiah Shirurmath compered.
