‘Shraavanamaasa’ discourse concludes in Suttur
Suttur, Sept. 9, 2018: The month-long discourse on ‘Veerashaivamurtha Purana’ written by Gubbi Mallannaarya, held at the Srimath in Suttur came to an end on September 8, 2018, Saturday.
In the valedictory address, Sri G.S. Somashekar, Mysuru District Backward Castes Welfare Department, District Officer, observed that “the Shraavana month, which means the fifth month according to Hindu calendar has a lot of significance among the Hindus. It is our belief that it is good to attend discourses or talks on our gods during this month. We can adopt many changes and become good citizens of our society. Our ancient Indian religion is based on a strong scientific foundation. There is a special reason, meaning and benefit from each and every pooja that we do. We can get rid of bad thoughts by remembering god and it also helps us to become good citizens and contribute good to the society.”
The chief guest of the programme, Sri K. Shivalingegowda, Managing Director, Mysuru District Cooperative Milk Producers’ Societies Federation Corporation said, “discourses helps us to think good and develop our personality. Taking part in the religious programmes conducted by the Srimath helps us to walk in the right direction and develop good culture.”
Sri C.S. Gurumallappa, Chairman, Chamarajanagara District Cooperative Milk Producers’ Societies Federation Corporation, presided over the programme. “Shraavana month is the beginning of festivals. Any work that is commenced during this month will be successful,” he said.
Sri Shivaswamy of the Srimath distributed prizes. Prof. H.B. Devanna and Dr. C.G. Ushadevi delivered discourses. Smt. Shyla Siddaramappa and Sri D.M. Siddalingaswamy recited vachanas.
Students of the JSS School gave an invocation. Sri Adarsha welcomed, Sri Nanjundawamy gave a vote of thanks and Sri Shadakshari compered.
