Live telecast of PMs interaction with SHG members at JSS KVK
Suttur, July 12, 2018: The Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Sri Narendra Modi participated in a live interaction programme with the self-help group members of the country on July 12, 2018. The live telecast of this programme was held at the ICAR JSS Krishi Vignan Kendra in Suttur. About 95 SHG women were present.
In his interaction, the Hon’ble PM expressed his view that there are 45 lakh SHGs across the country and it is not only playing a vital role in the improvement of the lives of women SHG members but also leading to the development of the rural households and community. Explaining the various rural development initiatives of the Govt. of India the PM said the rural youth are being provided skill development training under the Deen Dayal Antyodaya Scheme and they are also being provided self-employment opportunities by linking them with the Grameena Swarojgar Yojana. “It has helped in bringing positive changes among the youth,” he said and called upon all the youth to utilise the benefits of the scheme.
“The women are working as assistants in the banking sector by remitting money to the banks through SHGs,” he said.
In her interaction with the PM, a woman from Telangana State expressed her view that participation of women in SHG activities was helping them to gather self-confidence and courage. She also shared her experience of touring 8 states.
A woman from Maharashtra shared her experience of production and selling of various products like soap, ice cream, paneer, etc., using sheep milk. Another woman also from Maharashtra felt proud as she shared her experience of producing and selling papads, which has also helped in income earning capacity of her household.
A group of women from Gujarat are supplying pulp of fruits like custard apple, to food production units.
In his interaction, the Hon’ble PM also shared information about GeM (Government e-Marketing) website. He explained that the women can sell their products online by registering their SHGs on this website.
Women from Chattisgarh explained that value enhancement of products would fetch 30% profit. Bihar women shared their experiences of production and marketing of bangles. Madhya Pradesh women shared their experiences of preparing various products like phenyl, hand wash, sanitary napkins. Women SHG members from Rajasthan explained how they were involved in the production of solar panels, apart from sheep farming and agriculture. The PM who appreciated the efforts of these women also provided information about the 1 ltr website.
Explaining about the Narendra Modi App the PM encouraged the women SHG members to share the activities of their SHGs through the app and assured to share all their achievements in the radio programme ‘Mann Ki Baat’ that is being aired on last Sunday of every month.
On the whole, the programme motivated the SHG women members to start income generating activities.
