JSS Nursing College, Mysuru
Good quality nursing education ensures enhanced and effective medical care and treatment. This realization led JSSMVP to establish a degree college and a four year BSc Course in Nursing in 1997. The college is recognized by the Indian Nursing Council and Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bengaluru and has an intake of 60 students for BSc Nursing Course, 50 students to PB BSc. Nursing Course and 22 students for various MSc. Nursing courses namely; Medical Surgery (8), Psychiatry (5), Pediatrics (5) and Community Health (4).
During the year 2011-12, the college had 37 teaching and 13 non-teaching staff, and 281 students (52 boys and 229 girls) were studying at different levels. The college organized nine Continuing Medical Education (CME) programmes and two workshops. From the medical camp and blood donation camp organized by the college, 40 units of blood were collected and 300 people benefited from this.
At the first National Convention of ‘Society of Community Health Nurses of India’, organized by JSS Nursing College, in Suttur, on 16th and 17th March 2012, around 150 representatives from Chandigarh, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Goa, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Tamilnadu and Karnataka took part. The College had a recurring expenditure of Rs. 198.51 lakh and a non-recurring expenditure of Rs. 19.73 during 2011-12.
