About JSS Gayathri Higher Primary School, Malur
In 1956, Sri Venkatachalapathy Shetty (fondly called Annaiah) of Malur established an orphanage. Under the aegis of this orphanage, he started a school in the year 1968. The school was named after Princess Gayatri Devi (daughter of Sri Jayachamarajendra Wodeyar) in commemoration of her visit to Malur. The school is receiving grants in aid from the government since 1971. The school came under the administration of JSS Mahavidyapeeta in the year 1986.
The school persistently strives to create an environment which helps the children to chisel out their talents and mould them into better individuals. The school has a well-built infrastructure that is necessary for the comfort and development of the children. It has well-ventilated classrooms, a state-of-the-art IT lab, a library with books on arts, science and literature, indoor and outdoor sporting materials, and other facilities.
Admission is given to the students from classes 1st to 7th as per the norms prescribed by the Govt. of Karnataka. The academic year starts from the last week of May.
We encourage our children to take part in extracurricular activities. Important days and national events are celebrated in full swing. Arts and sports are given equal importance. Children compete in inter-school, intra-school, and Pratibha Karanji Competitions. Training is given in volleyball and throw ball, and our students have won many prizes.

Toilets: Separate toilets for girls and boys are provided, promoting hygiene and privacy for students.
